I've posted before my high appreciation for finding this forum, the experience, and acceptance of it's members.
My tastes, and curiosity's have changed for the better as I have slowly been getting over foot shyness and easing more and more into showing bare feet in public eye (particularly by friends and family that have known me forever to always have worn socks at minimum).
I was going through my dresser today cleaning it out of stuff I never wear anymore. I looked down at my footwear and damn has it changed over the past few years. I looked in my sock/underwear drawer... and out came the trash bag.

My sock/underwear drawer went from consisting of 41 pairs of socks, down to 12. 5 pairs are for work as for they are part of the army uniform(Have to be by regulation), and the other 6 are for the gym since I go 6 days a week. Basically other than the must do's, it has rendered me sockless in a sense. So its forced me to wear flops/sandals. Which brings me to the next part.

I went from owning 4 Pairs of DC's, 2 pairs of vans, converses, countless boots, a pair of nikes, 2 pairs of addidas, and 1 pair of pumas... to owning 2 pairs of Vivo Barefoot shoes (They are 85% mesh, and worn for the gym, and outings still), 1 pair of flip flops, 1 new pair of shammas sandals, 1 pair of crocs, and 1 pair of boots for work. And a pair of chacos a friend talked me into 2 years ago Lol.

Some will probably roll their eyes, but for me its been a very very slow progression. I have come to the realization that i HATE shoes and socks despite my shyness, and I think deep down I always have. I wore flops last week to walmart, was alone in an aisle, looked around, took them off and f*ck the cold tiles felt amazing. Getting there, still dont know if ill ever truly be a barefooter but I feel like I am slowly giving less and less of a f*ck. And reading countless threads on here from over the years definitely boosts the confidence and courage as for it seems I am not the first one going through what I am at all.

I will say its hard to do anything BF in a military town where everyone thinks theyre a freaking alpha male and trash talk everything. (They're very insecure amongst other shit I am aware but still lol). With that I know I shouldn't seek approval or care what anyone thinks, but I think in human nature everyone cares to come extent. A piece of character to work on as always for me. I got about 7 years left til retirement and I think I want to settle somewhere where I don't know anyone and its warm year round, like Florida, where I bet BF is more accepting. Idk, things are just looking up more and more as time goes by.
Have a good weekend everyone :)

That’s great I’m the same way I hate socks and shoes I have been going barefoot for over 29 years and I just love the barefoot lifestyle I would not change it for anything. Keep going barefoot

It seems like no matter what we do in life, there's a critic out there. With that notion you might as well do what pleases you. Just say NO to shoes and socks. They're your feet do want you want with them. If someone disapproves of your lifestyle... fuck them!

Cool. But maybe donate your things to those in need, rather than throw away. The landfills are full enough as it is.

Does anyone really need socks lol? Especially with this forum and what its all about? I do hear you though. I got rid of 9 shirts, and my dad took them all. The socks... just ehh.... idk im weird about those. All those shoes I listed though did get given away, and donated.

Youre not wrong there. Everything we do is wrong, or can be done better by whomever is saying the crap. This is a me thing. I will eventually get there. Went out for lunch right after I posted this thread with the parents, in flops, and low key took them off while eating. Just really really starting to hate anything on the feet. Even worked on my vehicle in the garage barefoot when we got back. It felt so nice on my lined floor.
