What’s the appeal of AFI’s “God Called in Sick Today”?

I greatly enjoy AFI’s album “Black Sails in the Sunset” (even though there’s a few really shitty songs thrown in to sabotage the album). I’ve talked to a few people about this, and they almost unanimously believe that “God Called in Sick Today” is the best song on the album. Wtf? If you’re willing to listen to that album at all, then why do you like the shitty song that doesn’t sound like the good ones? I looked at the back cover of an AFI live album that came out after Decemberundeground, and they actually played that shit. Why?
