Not to be mean, but to be honest, I wish people with that irredeemable mindset would escape. Just like I can't figure out what worthwhile purpose mosquitoes have. It's possible they help in some way but as much nuisance as they are, who cares. If we could just find somewhere in the world where they'd be happy instead of biting productive people for a thrill, I'd help pay to ship em off.

This "anybody and everybody" voting thing must be corrected. We have to start requiring that in order for people to vote they must demonstrate some cognitive function. Here, all they ask for is that you recite your name and address while they look at your ID. Better than nothing. I'm not saying people should have to be smart to vote. No, just objective testing that people are aware of what's going on around them and demonstrate simple problem solving skills. Because if they can't do those simple life skills then they can't logically choose the growth and direction of the country.

You don't seem to understand the term "democracy". Or enough about our government. We are not a democracy and are designed specifically to avoid that. I think people who don't know simple things like our form of government should not be allowed to vote here. Those are the people who are threatening our way of life out of ignorance.

 

The mail pickup boxes all over the place - are they earning their keep??? Those whining about them disappearing, when was the last time you personally mailed a letter using one?? Hmmm? Thought so. But you want to see them sitting there anyway. You want to pay some guy to go check them every day. You want to pay another crew to keep them painted. And another crew to fix them when they break. And yet another crew to replace them when they're vandalized, because we love "sticking it to the man". Effin hypocrites. You think we don't see how divisive you're being. Like you can hide behind these false pretenses. But we're on to you. We see your tactics. Sadly, you're bolstering discontent among the citizenry which leads to hate and contempt. Is that what you want, because I don't think it'll turn out in your favor. Pretty sure the people who are smart enough to recognize that we need to retire underutilized assets are more likely to be the ones passing on their genes to subsequent generations than the fools trying to make practical people look like evil oppressors. People who make themselves easy to hate generally don't fare well, at least not until they've collected enough riches and disarmed the population first. A big fat sarcastic "good luck" with that! Keep the subversion effort in full swing if conflict you seek because the patriots will reach the end of their rope at some point.

You say you're mailing your bills. If so, you're one of the few holdouts. I don't know reservation methods but outside most people pay bills electronically. Click, click. No stamp money. You mentioned the 21st century, well guess what, we're here. Hardly anyone mails their bills, or taxes, Hallmark cards, ... If it wasn't for delivering Amazon, the USPS would be defunct. They're losing tons of money on domestic mail service. Nine out of ten pieces of mail received is junk mail. They don't use those pickup boxes. We don't need those. Want to mail something without going to the post office -- simply put your outgoing mail in your mailbox and your carrier will pick it up. Saying you need those pickup boxes around means either you're not thinking or you get a thrill out of depleting the national treasury on dumb stuff.

Well, I am old fashioned in that regard. I send out Christmas cards, I don't feel comfortable with paying bills online when some clever hacker can get into my bank account, --and I certainly don't use it to send in my vote which isn't even allowed. Yes , I coud simply put my outgoing mail in my mailbox, if the local mail thief doesn't beat the postman to it. During the Pandemic, when people are ordering more online, the mails are becoming more important. But your man in the Oval Office doesn't like Bezos and the Republican plutocrats want to privatize the mails. Your pathetic attempt to try to rationalize voter suppression isn't working. Well, that practice had a bad history in the south before the Voting Rghts Act. African-American voters were asked such questions as how many bubbles are in a cake of soap, while whites weren't asked such questions. With Republicans so desparate to suppress the vote, they'd be sure to abuse it in like manner. BTW, if I were you, I wouldn't push cognition questions. You don't seem like the sharpest knife in the drawer, as the saying goes.

That's what they say, but it's empty rhetoric. No president in recent memory has used governmental power to divert money from congressionally approved purposes to unauthorized wall building, or to make such liberal use of executive orders to usurp Congress' power of the purse,, or to send paramilitary forces into our cities, or to claim to be above the law as our current one. Your Republican "less intrusive government" is a sham and a farce!

Your go to tactic is to insult the person you don't have a grounded argument against. That might be a cheerleading call for your cohorts but speaks much more of you than of your target (in this case, me). I expect your ancestors would be displeased. So, to the topic, our political system is in danger of being subverted by people out collecting votes and voting in place of incoherent people, putting in ballots in their name, despite they don't know what year it is, who is the current president, etc. We need safeguards for that because simply mass mailing out of ballots to registered voters will result in exactly this. At a bare minimum, everybody needs to go to the trouble of either requesting an absentee ballot before they're mailed one, or show up in person where social distancing and masks are required.
