Humor shows venerability especially if you joke about yourself. The right wing in general can not do this. The joke is that people are too stupid to think like their perfect lives and never laughing about the silly parts of their own views. Democrats call out stereotypes and embrace them. Republicans have to go as far as supporting a 17 year old who murders people.

Can you picture them joking about guns even if it was clear they support them? I sure can't. It's a sacred topic and the joke is the pussy who does not own one. Has Trump ever embraced his hands or tan jokes? He could never do that it would make him "weak". There is not much of a market for conservative humor for a reason. What they find funny is the opposite of what society wants to laugh at. They are mean girls who like calling Democrats ugly and fat and most people over the age of 16 don't find that funny.

Trump also does not have a pet or any real friends. It's very telling of the sort of person he is. No one who has really known him has anything nice to say. His biggest supporters are people like your husband. They will never know him they can just feel like they do though a TV.
