Um, wow, and they say, well, never mind, let's not go there.
Okay, so let's clarify. I'm suggesting people be able to state their name, birthdate, address, phone number, where they are now, and who the current president is - these are standard questions for cognition by the way, not something I made up myself. You're calling that racist. The only reason for you calling that racist is because you're thinking racist! Like that one race is less likely to be aware of those things than some other? Yeah, your own stupid game caught up with you. But do you realize it?
I'd ask you to think too, please, but I don't want to be responsible for you hurting yourself.

Foremost, and most obviously, we need to vote the rascals out--not only Trump but the Senate majority. This means turning out for the election. Since it's obvious Trump is about to try voter suppression and cry voter fraud, the turnout needs to be enough that there will be no questions. Walk through glass in your bare feet if necessary!

    Progressive change:
The destruction of the two parent nuclear family
The removal of prayer from civil activities
The cessation of pledging allegiance to one's country, and the symbolism of the flag
Population reduction through encouragement of abortion
Building an incapable populace dependent on the government for survival by gifting them money they don't have to work for (with the unspoken expectation that they'll vote for them in return)
Discouraging any competition to their public schools which operate as government indoctrination camps
Should you dare try to work for a living, take the majority of the fruits of your labor to hand out to the partiers for free
Stopping people from using energy to produce things, and move people and goods
Suggesting 'a world without borders' while at the same time suggesting free food and housing for all (which they've already accomplished) and free medical care, free university and professional education, free transportation, free... everything for everybody, yayy!!!

And people are so effing selfish that they are totally uninterested in the true cost of all this, they just want their free stuff they don't have to work for, the consequences and everybody else be damned.

A lot of contradictory goals and methods. But, the progressives are short-term people. They want immediate gratification. Conservatives are long-game, delayed gratification.

People have to register to vote.
    In PA the requirements are:
You must have been a United States citizen for at least one month before an election.
You must have been a resident of the voting local for at least one month before an election.
You must be 18 years old.

To register you need a valid PA driver's license, or PA or Federal ID card, or a passport, or a firearm permit, or any military, student, or work I.D., or a voter registration card, or any currant bill, check, or bank statement. Then request a form, sign it and return to the appropriate county voter registration office or you can upload your signature by internet.
    Everything can by down virtually.

    On the form:
You need to provide your name, birth date, reason for applying, address or if you have no address mark your most often location on a provided map.
Mailing address if any, verify your identity...... choose a political party or none, ask for or decline voting assistance, if you have a change of address list last address, affirm the above is correct, sign the form or make your mark, date the form, supply the name of anyone who helped with the form and their signature or mark, request or deny the option to be a poll worker. That's it.
Forms are available in English, two types of Chinese, Vietnamese, and Spanish.

No phone number is needed, I don't know why it would be, you don't have to tell them where you are now, whenever now is I could send my application from Nevada by the net while I'm on vacation. and you don't have to know who the current president is, I don't know why you would need to know that either, you may not be voting for a president and a person can be completely rational and cognate and careless about who the president is.

I never called anything racist. I said the possibility of a cognition test to be used for racist means exists depending on the structure of the test.
Your voting requirement can possibly exclude perfectly cognizant people from voting as you require a phone number. Is it possible that some individuals can't afford a phone...or maybe don't want one?

BTW way I usually think racist or at least about racism. That's one way I keep myself in check. Am I being racist? I ask myself that a lot.

The use of "tests for cognition" has an ugly history as a means of suppressing the black vote. A scoundrel like the current President, who cares more about suppressing the vote than the virus, would have an easy time designing a test that minorities couldn't pass and then figuring out a way to exempt himself and his MAGA goons (exemptions for this, that or the other thing). That's the way it was done in the pre-1965 South. African-Americans were routinely given more rigorous tests. In Georgia, African-American college grads routinely flunked the test, e.g., for not not knowing who the current Georgia Commissioner of Agriculture was , while white folks who hadn't finished grade school passed. And yes, it was racist. Remember: It's not so much the test but how it's scored (and who scores it) that counts. Here's one from the State of Louisiana. Can you pass it?

Of course, you could challenge the fairness of the test--in court--after lengthy litigation!

Dumb idea. Should that disqualify you from voting?

(post 208) I suppose you really believe all that. Credit where credit is due-----you have hit most of the republican-right wing scare tactics. Thanks for the reminder.

The nuclear family did not become common until the 20th Century.
Prayers have not been removed from civil activities. You can pray anywhere you want, but you can not proselytize on government property, nor can any governmental agency or employee favor any particular religion as the Constitution prohibits that.
Who cares about the pledge of allegiance. We didn't have one until 1942 and it was written by a socialist.
Population reduction through encouraging abortion? That's a stretch. You're telling us that's the only reason for abortions?
Well, bullshit on the give me free money so I don't have to work.

Public schools. Not even worth commenting on.
    Same with the next.
Stopping people from using energy????? What taking away their AA batteries?

Hey where is this free housing, food, medical care, university education, and transportation (which they've already accomplished) for all?
How'd I get missed? And since I did get missed doesn't that negate the "for all" part?

No surprise, man. That's why you have white guilt and mistakenly think that being a "progressive" and handing out free stuff, lowering standards, and all will offset that. I don't have to worry about that because I never think of race or somesuch possibility of me being racist, I just deal with people as people and don't factor any of that in. Try it; I expect you'll find it freeing, and the people you deal with will sense the respect (once you get used to it - old habits die hard).

beyond impeachment, there isn't much we can do about the current leadership. With a Republican senate, and without a major malfeasance, I don't see it happening. :(

I can see you never think about race.

Why do you assume I have "white guilt" whatever that is?
Do you know my ancestral heritage?
Do you have any idea how my national ancestors were treated in this country as immigrants?
Do you know that 10,000 of those with my European ancestry were forced from their homes, 50,000 subject to curfews, hundreds were interned, and 600,000 immigrants of my heritage were labeled enemy agents and forced to carry id cards during WWII?
Do you know those with my heritage were considered black?
Do you know they were, in fact, considered worse than the blacks in this country?
Do you know that one, if not the largest, lynchings in the United States was of eleven innocent men of my heritage...and Teddy Roosevelt said the lynching was "a rather good thing"?
Did you know that in 1911 the governor of Louisiana described those of my heritage as "just a little worse than the Negro, being if anything filthier in their habits, lawless, and treacherous".

Don't come at me with your bullshit.
