Were Humans Meant To Have Multiple Partners?

Why is it in general, society has issues with people enjoying sex with more than one person? Is this really wrong or is it the way we were biologically meant to be?

 

It seems that men and women are wired different in this regard. While not a hard rule(pardon the pun), most men find it easier to separate sex from love, making it much easier to have multiple partners. Not to say there are not women that do also, it’s just more likely they will be emotionally invested.

 

Women are emotionally invested until the children arrive, then its all about the kids and maybe you can stick around if you're okay with your place as a distant third or fourth. Hence the affairs.

 

My opinion only,
I think modern civilizations have programmed the people through the use of religion and social control. And there is a big difference between sex and a relationship. I certainly don’t think it is biological for a person to remain monogamous…it’s their choice.
Animals have sex to procreate only. We humans are gifted with the ability to procreate and have routine fun sex for our physical and mental health. I also don’t think humans should be ostracized for having more that sex partner. In the lifestyle we are considered to be a consenual non monogamous couple. That said, our relationship is not open for others, but our sex play is. We were brainwashed for years by religion and social norms. Not any more.

I think as long as your enjoying yourself that’s all that matters go and do who you want when you want wherever you want to and don’t let anyone tell you different because it’s really none of their business

 

I completely agree and am fairly certain that's what wrecked our MFM threesome, back in 1985. I don't think this is true. I have observed other primates besides humans masturbating and have observed homosexual and autoerotic behavior in dogs. Human animals are not the only species that loves sex for purposes beyond procreation.

 

Yes, there may be some validity to what you say, but you are cherry picking my opinion point.

 

There are other species that have sex purely for the enjoyment of it. Not many but there are some. Bonobos are one. It has been researched that as much as 3/4's of the Bonobo sexual behavior is for pleasure. The real kicker to this is that in their society the female leads the social system. She is the dominate one in regards to sex within the species while in humans it is the male. The only taboo sex act within them is mother - mature son sexual relations.

I think we're hard wired to have multiple partners. Our ability to have sex pretty much all the time without the female going into heat is an advantage. Instead we are attracted physically. I was told once that the reason men "roll over and go to sleep" and the reason they often can't get it up after ejaculating is so that another male can more easily take his place and mate with the woman he just finished in. The men are both attracted to her. Once climaxes in her. She's still needy. He gets replaced by the next male who also finishes in her. The more men she takes the greater the odds of her getting pregnant and sustaining the evolution of the human race. Easy sex was a huge leg up for this species. We have put all kinds of cultural and social rules in place around all of this but it still exists. We're just wonderfully good at having sex with each other.

I think it depends on your upbringing. I was raised in a very conservative, religious household. The fairytale of meeting some young lass, falling in love, and remaining pure until your wedding night. Easier said than done, as far as the remaining pure goes. we were both virgins when we met in college, and fell in love, thinking that we would eventually get married. we had self-imposed limitations on our physical relationship, but overtime each boundary was broken, to the point of full on sex. we didn’t want anyone else because we were madly in love. She eventually dumped me when I went out of state to finish my degree.
My way of thinking changed, especially when I met my now ex-wife. she had been around the block of time or two, but that didn’t bother me as I had also. I think it was after our third date that we started having sex, and we’re falling in “love”. Got married, and the first year and a half or so we had a “normal“ marriage. Then I suggested that if the opportunity arose, we might dabble in hot wifing, and possibly cuckold lifestyle. The usual question of “why would you want to share me?“ Then she met a guy at the gym, and here we go! That started a six month affair, or she would hook up with him about once a week. Then the fateful night, she had returned home after a “date”, and we’re starting to go at it, and she starts crying. “I think I’m falling in love with him“. Well, shit! Fortunately, he realized that she wanted more than just sex, she wanted a relationship, and he broke it off with her. She was crushed. It was almost like he was divorcing her, and she started spiraling downhill. Sadly, our sex life suffered. There were times where she would say his name while we’re having sex. Strangely, it hurt me, while at the same time turning me on. Weird! Then she got the harebrained idea that we needed to move away, and start over just being us. I said, I couldn’t leave my career here in town that I work so hard to attain. So she filed for divorce. Thank you Jesus! As painful and as costly as it was it was the best thing for me.
When I met my current wife, we were both divorced, obviously, and pushing 40 years old. we moved in together pretty quickly, again, madly in love. Don’t stereotype women…I think many/most who enter into a formal romantic, life partner situation will have strings attached at some point. I find men possessive as well, so I typically only have sex now with multiple partners. No one gets any ideas of “strings attached” with me!
