the more you know, the more you're worth, assuming strangers dont shoot you first and ask questions later. when people in your group start thinking "donner party" you dont want to be the meaty one with no skills you know?
I think you greatly underestimate the rate at which technology is advancing. Look at solar technology alone.
While the growth of technology is indeed fascinating (as better technology allows for improved methods of creation. Even in the past 100 years you can look and see that our technological prowess has increased exponentially.) I am with marksup. This sort of sensationalist stuff is all over the web. No one told me why we don't already live in a fingerprint dystopia yet.
This makes me wanna start prepping to live in the woods. Another small part of me wants to believe people wouldn't go for it.
Oh for sure it's sensationalist. But these next 20 years are going to be very interesting. I'm just saying it is absurd to dismiss an article like this when technology is improving at such a rapid pace. It's impossible to predict where exactly we are headed and you need to keep your imagination on hand if you try, instead of basing it on the past and our current level of knowledge.
we aren't even organized enough to have a good healthcare system and you're telling me that everything about what we do is going to be based on our eyeballs in 20 years? yeah........ right......
Well the problems with healthcare are mainly concerned with money, not the rate of advancement in modern technology. And security has typically been more important to our government than healthcare. So no that wasn't what I was telling you at all haha.
when I go to the hospital at the VA. I dont need no ID cause I have an Implanted RDIF dog tag.. just like taking your pet to the vet..
^^or the vet to get...pet? can i come? good thing i'm scrawny to begin with. no one will want to eat me.
we can have all the technology in the world, but if we don't have the cash it's not going to be utilized. using that new of technology on that big of a scale, especially in 10 or even 20 or even 50 years would cost WAY more money than any country could ever afford. example: those full body scanners in airports. even if it does happen, i think it'll stay in the private sector for a very long time
this is why i am preparing for commune life. Well, this is not why but because of the future chaos that is bound to erupt in general. i have several other reasons for going to a commune, don't worry. it would suck to live in a world like that, always hopng for a glitch in the matrix. i do think it's gonna take a while...i find this a little...idk far fetched? but you never know. no matter what its time for me to live off of and in harmony with gaia.
Oh absolutely the private sector is what would really drive technology like this. And considering the rate of advancement in technology, these products could be the same price as a security camera or less in 20 years. How often do you see security cameras and how well do they actually work? Now imagine adding an iris scan or replacing it completely. It's not that far fetched. A $50 billion problem. These people are losing a lot of money every year, of course they want to develop and utilize this technology as soon as possible. http://www.fastcompany.com/1683302/...secure-city-in-the-world-welcomes-big-brother I'm not saying this will happen, but when you said 100 years originally, I had to comment that you are underestimating how fast we are advancing. In 100 years those products will be ancient, and most likely dirt cheap.
