For someone who wasn't that keen on government communications a few years ago and criticised it heavily, has now taken up a civil service post as communication tsar in Priti Patel's Home Office. Hypocracy rules ok !!!

Former Taxpayers’ Alliance boss handed taxpayer-funded job by Priti Patel
Leading critic of ‘unnecessary’ PR jobs takes up spin doctor role at Home Office

The former head of the right-wing campaign group which campaigns for lower government spending has been given a top government job working alongside home secretary Priti Patel.

Jonathan Isaby, the former chief executive of the Taxpayers’ Alliance, announced on Wednesday he is now Ms Patel’s communications chief at the Home Office, despite having criticised government spending on communications staff in the past.

A 2015 TaxPayers’ Alliance report condemned “the emergence of a growing class of ‘spin-doctors’”, adding that “their remit goes beyond the basic requirements of government communication”.

The Brexiteer – who has repeatedly railed against “wasteful” government spending, including on “unnecessary” PR jobs in the NHS – said he was “excited” to take up the new civil service role.

“Delighted to share that this week I have taken up a job in the civil service as communications private secretary to home secretary Priti Patel in her private office at the Home Office,” Mr Isaby tweeted. “Excited to get started in the new role.”

Mr Isaby has spent the past few years as editor of the pro-Brexit news website, BrexitCentral, which described its mission as “promoting a positive vision of Britain after Brexit”.

In 2020, he announced the closure of the BrexitCentral website which had aimed to counter “the doom and negativity of those who remain unwilling to accept the referendum result”.

His appointment comes as Ms Patel has received fierce condemnation over a recent pay freeze for police officers.

The home secretary confirmed last month that officers earning more than £24,000 would be hit by the freeze, while those earning less will be given an annual rise of £250.

The Police Federation – the body representing rank-and-file officers – said its national council had “overwhelmingly supported” a vote of no confidence in Ms Patel at an extraordinary meeting at the end of July.

Meanwhile, eyebrows have been raised at the money spent on recent Home Office immigration measures, after the government agreed to give French authorities an extra £54m last month to try to tackle small boat crossings.

Labour’s shadow home secretary Nick Thomas-Symonds said: “Time and time again, the government has announced arrangements with France using taxpayers’ money but the numbers keep increasing.”

Ms Patel has also been slammed recently over a mass deportation flight to Jamaica, which left the UK on Wednesday with just seven “foreign criminals” on board after 43 others were granted a last-minute legal reprieve.

Campaigners had been trying to halt the flight amid ongoing concerns over the Windrush scandal – with claims that some detainees came to the UK as children and have the right to British citizenship.

On Thursday, the home secretary tweeted: “I make absolutely no apology for taking action to remove foreign criminals – keeping the public safe from the likes of murderers, rapists and child sexual abusers. The Borders Bill will make it easier for the UK to remove them.”

Priti Patel is an evil racist bitch with no empathy and mediocre talents as would be expected of anyone appointed by Boris Johnson.

I don't think you could call her racist given her family background, Indian/Ugandan parents & married to a Englishman, apart from that I agree with you, a nasty arrogant piece of work not to be trusted

There are many, mostly wealthy, Indians who are extremely racist. Just because she has racial origins different to the UK majority doesn't stop her or any similarly descended person being biased against one or other races. I'm Priti Patel would have liked to go to Eton is had been a boy.

and the latest Priti Patel failing:

Child refugees from Afghanistan are being held by the Home Office in hotels for weeks on end without shoes, spare clothes, money or access to healthcare, embarrassing the home secretary, who promised to help people fleeing the Taliban.

One unaccompanied Afghan minor who arrived in the UK a month ago said they had also been given no legal advice or interpreter, their asylum claim had yet to be processed and they had no idea where they were or even where to find the nearest mosque.

Last week Priti Patel, announcing plans to relocate thousands of Afghan refugees to the UK, promised “everything possible to provide support” to ensure they could “integrate and thrive”. Yet the current approach by the Home Office has been described as a “complete breakdown” of child protection measures that has breached its statutory responsibilities.

Despite repeated offers from a number of specialist charities, including Barnardo’s, to enter the hotels and assess the children, the Home Office has so far turned them down.

A Muslim community group that offered to supply child refugees in a hotel near Brighton with halal food was turned away despite complaints from some youngsters they were only being offered “boiled vegetables”.

It has also been claimed that children are being put into taxis and driven across the country with no escort or child protection system in place. In one instance, a child is said to have been driven by taxi more than 250 miles from the south coast to Yorkshire without an escort, raising further doubts over the Home Office’s ability to safeguard the expected influx of unaccompanied asylum seekers.

Of more immediate concern is the department’s approach to the safety of scores of children being kept in hotels, with the one near Brighton said to hold 70 minors.

On Wednesday a five-year-old Afghan refugee fell to his death from a ninth-floor Sheffield hotel window, days after arriving in the UK. On Saturday it emerged that asylum seekers were previously removed from the hotel because it was unfit for them to stay in

She is not fit to be in government!

and more......does she know that we have a climate emergency....

A government extremism adviser has admitted during a private meeting that it is wrong to label Extinction Rebellion (XR) supporters as “extreme”, despite the home secretary, Priti Patel, condemning the group as “criminals” who threaten the nation’s way of life.

and more on the Home Office... run by minister Priti Patel......

The Ministry of Defence confirmed on Saturday that the final UK evacuation flight purely for Afghan nationals has left Kabul airport, with ministers conceding that at least 1,100 Afghan nationals will not be removed in time.

As Afghan refugees arrive in the UK, what can you do to help?
Aided by 30 volunteers, the ACAA is doing its best to coordinate donations, ferrying essential supplies from Feltham to the airport hotels where many Afghan arrivals are in 10-day quarantine. Uncertainty remains over how and where the estimated 10,000 or more Afghans being resettled in the UK this year will be accommodated.

The association has also supported dozens of unaccompanied minors in recent days, helping them to access foster care. Nasimi says one of the organisation’s most important roles is in helping to recruit foster carers from the Afghan community.

The local MP, Seema Malhotra, was in attendance on Friday but the ACAA has received no formal support from national government or the local authority, Hounslow.

Nasimi adds: “I’m really disappointed that we haven’t had any support from the Home Office so far.

Just incredible that after such a massive airlift extraction we organise nothing for these traumatized people.....UK govt ....a heap of donkeys.

or leave their kids to fall out of windows in sub-standard hotels.......

I know I'm getting old but what happened to Britain? I used to think that we were good at organisation and efficent!

The next Scottish independence referendum I will again vote to split....a federal system would be my preferred option.....but small countries can be light on their feet and more adaptive...NZ has the same population as Scotland and is a beacon in many ways.

This morning the UK government praising how in the last 20 years occupation of Afghanistan there have been no terror attacks on the UK originating there; but the last statistic I saw said that around 75,000 Afghans had been killed by suicide bombers in that time.

So judging by the UK government attitude the Afghan people are dispensable if it saves UK lives!?

While the number one duty of any government is to protect it's people, is this a morally acceptable position?

I have mixed feelings about this. Whilst I don’t believe, at it’s core, Globalization, in it’s current manifestation, has been a good thing for the majority of peoples across the globe, and that we should leave other cultures to their own development, we sent our military forces into Afghanistan, and have a responsibility to those people. Britain has a history with these kinds of manoeuvres (Israel/Palestine conflict, for one). From what I have witnessed across the decades, these interferences have been for the sole benefit of private Corporations.

I think, in this case, we, and the US military, have a responsibility to get people, who don’t want to be ruled by the Taliban, out of Afghanistan. After that, leave other cultures alone, unless they are an actual physical threat to us.

I don’t think it’s just one party. Seems to me all political parties and structural institutions get co-opted by much bigger fish with their own agendas.

We've never had a truly Socialist Government,(yet) the Labour Party only came about in the latter part of the 19th Centuary, so was not numerically strong enough to form a Government until the 1920s, therefore it had to be the scumbag 'nasty party' government !!!

The only politicians I had any respect for were Harold Wilson and Tony Benn. I do wish Tony Benn had been a Prime Minister. But I think both of them realised what they were up against.
