I've just finished spending the entire evening listening to all 9 Beethoven symphonies. No response necessary. Just sayin'
I love Bach the best. i love mascagni too. Im getting a record player that turns vinil to mp3s. It shall be sweet.
why not just take a turntable with RCA outs, and get a stereo Y converter, plug it into your microphone port and record with audacity? about the same quality with less harsh digital conversion artifacts.
get one from good will, a small one toss it when you are done or, donate it back to good will.... (goodwill meaning, any thrift store that sells old donated stuff.)
Dave, thats exactly what my dad does. I taught him how to do it (rca to 1/8" jack + audacity) and I am slightly technologically inept, but he is disabled. Its easy. Its much better than anything that converts to MP3 because you get 24 bit quality wav files. Its a great way to record records. I have an mbox now so its going to be even better, very little sound degradation.
I actually like using .flac it's lossless, six channel, (which is not required, but, it's nice to have, if you want to apply filters) big files, but, that's okay.
I will look into .flac dave. Olhippie, that sounds awesome by the way. A great way to spend a winter evening. I am just starting to get into classical but I don't know what is good or bad. I feel like a real noob.
