Seems I misunderstood what was going on. It was down with a message saying it was migrating ... it came back looking different ... I assumed this was the new site. But it's not ... it's the same old site in transition, just you can get back in now. The new one has yet to make its appearance ... so let's reserve judgment until it does. (oh ... and remember not to criticize, won't you ... or the thumbs down mafia will get you)

Even though I'm likely to regret saying this: I'm looking forward to the look of a re-designed website.

I don't remember how I came across that vid. I never re-post a vid where I found it. Or at least I try not to.

It's just been saved as a shortcut on my PC for a long time, waiting to be added to a future playlist on the phone I just got a few weeks ago.

Haven't listened to any more of her music as of yet..

UPDATE! I finally got root access to the server to see wtf was going on... Lots of crap running from when they set it up. It's never been rebooted! So I will have to do a reboot at some point.

Hopefully that will speed up the conversion process (might not!). If not, I may have to close down the site for a day or two to finish converting the data. :(

This has turned into a big drag, as you can imagine. However it is giving me time to work on the new site. Lots of shit to familiarize.

Some things are very cool, others are a real hassle, like working on templates. You can't even search thru them in admin!!!

So it means don't expect a really wicked site. Not gonna happen. Esp. since we will have to upgrade it again soon, as we are waiting for the next big version upgrade (4.0).

And of course we won't be getting that right away as there's sure to be bugs! So I'm not going to waste time customizing the site when it's going to change again, perhaps in a couple of months.

Please bear with these changes. As they've been a "bear" to me so far... :(

I feel for ya, Skip. I was once a mod on a board for a few years and for about a year I was given access to the admin panel but told to not change anything without discussion with the sight owner. I looked around in there a few times and was pretty much lost. I learned a few things but that was way above my knowledge and ability. Why even give me access to that anyway? I never changed anything myself.

Patience people, patience. Migrating a server is not the same as you copying a picture from one drive to another. Compound that by the fact that the migration is being done across the internet (I assume Skip doesn't have a copy of everything sitting on his desk). Then also add in the fact that he is also having to slipstream the new data, like this post, in with the existing and not lose any data. I have been involved with many server installs/migrations and the average time from server set-up to final data transfer is around about a week if everything goes butter smooth. Hopefully the servers Skip is moving to are already pretty much configured, but from his recent post I'm guessing not as much as they could be. When you move to a new hosting server, all the hosting co. does is provide you with access and new protocols, all the data migration and reconfiguration of the site is solely the responsibility of the sites administration. The fact that Skip has managed to keep HF up during this and thus far no data has been lost is a testament to his knowledge. So all of you whining ooh, my stuff doesn't look the same, STFU and have a little patience.

yeah, and the admin panel is really just the tip of the iceberg anyway. most everything that matters is done through the cpanel (or equivalent) and your file transferring program.
