I was gonna mention this one. Not a Harmony Korine fan but I liked Gummo. It has a surprisingly good soundtrack too, never thought I'd ever hear Mystifier in a movie.

Glad to see shout outs to the avant garde directors Brakhage and Anger on this thread. True 'film artists' get no credit for their work. The true inspiration before modern music videos were created. Check out Maya Deren's Meshes In The Afternoon, also available for free somewhere on youtube.

American Psycho - weirded me out so bad I had to watch it 3 times to see if he really killed those chicks or imagined it...still couldn't decide anything but that I wished I'd never watched it

The Ring - don't know why...I can still see that creepy kid and her hair crawling out of that well backwards

What Ever Happened to Sweet Baby Jane - with Betty Davis....jeeez I still get a little (and sometimes a lot) scared when I see old women with lots of make-up

    The Holy Mountain

Fun fact: George Harrison was going to play the lead role, but turned it down when he read a scene in the script where he would've had to have his anus washed with a sponge on camera.

I always liked THX 1138 it was years later that I realized that it was directed by George Lucas and that he was the director of Star Wars. The dvd has a featurette on American Zoetrope and a behind the scenes about shaving the actors' heads which is really weird because this girl is obviously tripping her skirt off.

i dunno if someones said it

    but

    wristcutters: a love story

is an all time fav of mine, ive been pushing it on everyone lately lol

its about this guy who kills himself and winds up in a kind of between world where everyone who kills themselves goes. he later finds out that his ex gf is ther and decides to go find her. he travels for a long time and later stumbles upon a group of people that preform "silly little miracles" and ill stop there i think or i might spoil the end

but its good, dunno the director but its got eugene hutz in it (from gogol bordello)

Love this movie, came out ages ago and my dad made me watch it. Didn't want to because of the subtitles but i ended up loving it, so intense.

Hmm think i have a few titles to contribute but one at a time...

Audition - Japanese Thriller/Mystery...very intense, very gory, and very japanese. I rather not go too in detail but it's about a older man trying to find his self a suitable younger wife, and the apple of his eyes has a checkered past, one she has found to get a costume to as an adult.

Don't see this if your are squeamish.

As a new visitor here--and, hopefully, not already breaking the rules--I would like to invite all those at this forum to visit www.ManorOnMovies.com...to find some very "weird movies." MUCH weirder than the samplings I've seen in most of the replies above.

    Thanks--SWM

Martin Scorcese's After Hours from 1984... although compared to a lot of films previously suggested it's quite normal lol
