What are some weird movies?

Some movies I would consider weird:

Pi
2001: A Space Odyssey
A Scanner Darkly
The Cell

List movies that leave you saying wtf!

 

There are so many..
Things like Wicker Man and spirited away are two obvious choices; both completely different yet equally weird.

But if you really want to see some weird movies (that leave you feeling strangely empty inside) have a look at some low budget cult movies from the 70s. Or even some Japanese horror movies such as suicide club :alien:

My boyfriend and I watched 'Oldboy' together (dubbed version) and it was weird as fuck.
Cannibal holocaust and the poughkeepsie tapes are also pretty sketch.
Hmm.. there's a lot more I can't think of right now because it's too early, I'll probably come back to this thread later haha.

Those are all weird in a "creepy" way. There are also a lot of more light-hearted movies that nonetheless mess with narrative structure or film conventions that we normally take for granted. Basically anything from the French New Wave falls into this category.

Then you have straightup avant-garde films from filmmakers like Stan Brakhage, Kenneth Anger, Michael Snow, etc. A lot of their stuff is on youtube or Google video, here are some samples:

Weird is anything by David Lynch.

The already mentioned Eraserhead is just the beginning (literally)

Alexander Jodorowskys ''El Topo'' and ''The Holy Mountain''. I thought El Topo was awesome, but the holy mountain was just trying too hard to be weird.

 

Enter the Void was pretty crazy the first time watching it.

 

Also 'Till the light takes us' is a true story and nuts how everything happened.

 

Pink Flamingos is by far the weirdest movie.

youtube, cant show alot of the parts in it. its digusting actually.
for anyone who hasnt heard what it is: its about Babs Johnson (Divine), being declared the most filthiest person in the world, but the Marbles (weird people with blue and orange head and pubic hair) get angry and jealous so they compete. "lude" doesn't describe this movie, it is disgusting. but i love it and it makes me lmao.
