So many of those same hippies got us to this point. Sure some actually live by their ways but for the most part the same hippies who went to Woodstock ended up adding to the bullshit which we call America. You might have created a generation that loved music and thought you we're free but seriously. LSD was advertised by the government (yes, remember Leary and all your idols? All of them went to Ivy league schools and we're familiar with the feds) You guys bit the hand that fed you and in turn thought you we're free but in reality didn't do much but create another counter culture. You promoted peace and love but the harsh reality was that humanity was too cruel for you. We are beasts, we are not going to live in perfect harmony... That same optimistic bullshit is what made people believe that everything was going to be ok. Look at us now? Same scumbags, if not WORSE. Don't try to downplay what i say when you nor i know the outcome of the generation, we take it as it is. It was a counter culture just like any other meme in this world, it penetrated the hearts of some but the fact that you needed drugs in order to promote it proved your downfall. Thanks for creating a drug counter culture, it's too bad the majority rules :2thumbsup:

Was reading something recently, something about: if the wealth of the world was spread around to all of our worlds inhabitants, and for fun, say that amounted is $1,000,000 a piece, who would want to do the work necessary for all of us to spend our million on.

Just thinking outside the box-would some guy living in nepal decide to create a robotic workforce-great. Now he becomes the man who most folks appear to be against.

Seems to me most folks are pissed because they don't have what somebody else has. Are pissed because gov't money was used in bailouts in 2008'9.

I wonder if the law of the jungle applies to business as well. If a business is not successful, it should fail, allowing for the successful to succeed. Would that make folks happy? Except those whose jobs are eliminated

A guy was telling me about the next boom. his idea is that it won t happen until at least 2018/19, until the next "pig in the python" generation group start spending. H e believes thats why we had the meltdown, the boomers stopped spending as they approach retirement. sorta makes sense.

Action = reaction-yup I agree Scorpio Kenny-I just can't see any action in the occupy movement. Not unlike the lack of action at a 60's be-in, love-in

Laying around smoking dope, as I did, just felt good

Folks need shelter and food. Its not a right. Our forefathers just went out and killed and eat and stayed warm. Thats all we really need. Folks today want way more-its a choice

    Damn, I feel much better

One positive outcome of the boomers retiring/passing on, the job market should explode, someone has to build those tents

Because there was no plan. Even with a vision there must be some ort of plan, otherwise a only remains a aimless vison that can go nowhere. The was no plan because we never answered "How?"

Maybe it failed because we gave up. Maybe it failed because it forgot to include everyone. Maybe it failed because we blamed people rather than the systems that continue to fail humanity.

    Want to try again?

I like some of the music being played today, does that make me entirely wrong? No, i keep an open mind. Things change and morph into something else, just because the music is not proclaiming this or that, or sounds like him or her doesn't mean it is entirely bad. In my opinion, yes music has definitely changed but the overall quality of it neither has regressed nor progressed. It's still music, i can find the the same subjects that many of the 60's bands preached in today's music. The spectrum of music has evolved into a giant umbrella, so please don't attack today's music especially if you don't listen to it lol

For those of you who think you haven't really changed the world or that the world has got worse, please know the following:

Because of you, women now have more rights and oppertunities. Inter racial marriages are no longer illegal or taboo, homesexality is now being widly accepted in society, birthcontrol is a women's choice, just to name a few changes that happened because your movement! Thank You!!!

read this yesterday and thought of this thread, hope it hasn't been posted before

"We are here to make a better world.

No amount of rationalization or blaming can preempt the moment of choice each of us brings to our situation here on this planet. The lesson of the 60's is that people who cared enough to do right could change history.

We didn't end racism but we ended legal segregation.

We ended the idea that you could send half-a-million soldiers around the world to fight a war that people do not support.

We ended the idea that women are second-class citizens.

We made the environment an issue that couldn't be avoided.

The big battles that we won cannot be reversed. We were young, self-righteous, reckless, hypocritical, brave, silly, headstrong and scared half to death.

And we were right." Abbie Hoffman

Abbie Hoffman was always full of hubris (or whatever). Soldiers are still sent around the world to fight unpopular wars, and avoiding environmental issues is now officially-sanctioned national policy, supported as always by big business.
