It's understandable a pic gets judged on what it looks like, but you do realize that's not what makes the capturing of a black hole with this telescope so spectacular... right?

I learned of other telescope sites. some I might of known but others I did not.

I learned that we still can't zoom into an image and obtain a non blurry picture, like not even from a NASA super computer. The original image has very good clarity and definition. I also know the supposed hi resolution shots from NASA are extraordinary large, so it is perplexing why they could not obtain a good image.

We have finally proof these things actually exists. But I guess this doesn't really interest or matter to people who distance themselves as rigidly from science as they do from politics :p

Its not from an actual photo, a data composite that took like 2 years to put together

Its blurry becuase thats the limit of the telescopes precision

Technically it doesnt even tell us black holes exist, at least in the way of the assumed structure the majority consenus current is

Just looking on google now, there seems to have been many photos of black holes before, what are we excited for here? a shadow?

Life's short. IMO, it's better to be in awe of the little things. Sure, I know this photo looks like a fuzzy fruit loop, but sometimes I like to try to find beauty in the simple (even stupid) things. We're on the edge of the final frontier— space. I think this photo's release is a good representation of that. We have a lot to work on. There's a lot to come in the future that we can look forward to.

In what way do you suppose that researching black holes will be beneficial for human life?

Meh, I get excited when I see shitty science pics. ;)
It's kind of like when people accuse UFO hunters for never producing a quality photo, and then give us a blurry fruit loop. lol.
