in the 60's we were into the 50's.The stories are always better than the truth. As far as the music the bubble gum is forgotten and the good stuff remains. We also had Donnie Osmand and the Jackson5.Don't forget the Archies, sugar, sugar. There was as much crap then as there is now.We did have Cream and Jimmie and Janis and Jerry...in the sunshine of your love....

No offense, but I'm not too concerned 'bout 'cha friend.

The British language doesn't even use many contractions...

    Contractions are awesome. :D

Tell your friend to lighten up. :H

Why would you want the 60's back....

Minorities, especially blacks, were shot and beaten and hung if they dated a white woman... Boys my age were getting drafted and then slaughtered in Vietnam... MLK was shot... etc etc etc..I believe there was more bad things than there were good...

And why do you want the 60s to be back? Because they had good music and you like the fashion? Woopteefuckindoo... listen to the music and wear the clothes then. Wa-la! Isnt that all you wanted?
You should also stop being so damn closed-minded, there is quite a few good bands and musicians around today.

Or maybe you like race-killings and want them to be even more widespread than they already are... or maybe you wanna be drafted?

    Exactly.

Thank you for that Chuck...I was too lazy to type all of that...

People must learn to see that the 60s weren't the nicest era on the phase on the earth...

It was so bad that it actually forced a counter-culture to rise.

*cough* i already mentioned some of that and more earlier  :)

If the sixties were indeed a time to remember and maybe 'special' then i think it is merely because many things still remain and or views on a lot of things have not changed ? The sixties were a time that attitudes changed ? Now i think we just repeat the same (maybe tired arguements over and over).. from anti vientnam / anti iraq .. to the role of the documentary makers have on our society and attitudes medium cool / farenheit 911.

If anything we need too move on ?. And not subject our kids to 60 year old (when they reach teenage years).. ideals ?.

the difference between the 60's and now is that they didn't talk to a load of people on a website about starting something. they went out and did something. this is the age of apathy, our symbol is nothing because we're too apathetic. face it.

Our symbol can be a big fat naked lady that has just shot and killed herself.

well if you look back on all the other generations, they didn't know they were gonna be stereotyped when they did what they did, so why do you want to stereotype or "symbolize" as you say, now?? can't the next generation figure that out later, like before?

How about political, envirmental and social activism. How about being the generatiion that frees the 26 millions slaves in the world.Or the one that turns around the state of the envirment. Or that gives all people on the Earth a sense of pride and personal value Or the one that does what the last two or three generations have been trying to do. Elect Ralph Nador for President.Last ones the hardest.

Unite and adopt a 13 month global calendar in celebration.

I am in favor of a standardized calendar for the whole world, just as I am in favor of a universal coinage

for all countries, and a supplementary artificial language (like Esperanto, for example) for all peoples

... I am always ready to endorse any honest movement which will help unify the peoples of the world."

    - Mahatma Gandhi, Journal of Calendar Reform, 1931
