To All the Young Hippies, We need a symbol of our generation. The 60's had sex, drugs, and rock 'n roll. The 70's had discos and afros. The 80's had spandex and classic rock. The 90's had grunge. What do we have? Gothic or Hippy can't be our symbol, cuz those have already been used. If anyone has any ideas, please let me know. Peace and Love, BradinTheGreat
well, but remember, that all those things, you named here, weren't planned or something.. you know what I mean.. just let it on time.. we'll see how our children will talk about our 'young era' several yrs later.. but anyways, It's an interesting thought..

you know I don't think it happens like that. I think that the "symbols" of those generations were just the cool things to do and it's what's remembered AFTERWARD. I don't know what we have just yet. Gap commercials and technology? that's all I seem to see nowadays. who knows what we'll be remembered by. I do hope it's something cool though.
If you look back thru time, you'll notice that the popular countercultures of the time "make" the symbols. What's the popular one now? Shitty pop-"punk" people. If this is the case, I say we just do whatever we want... or we could all do that. Do your own thing.... www.gunsanddope.com Tolerate everybody's hobbies, and do whatever you want. As long as you are tolerant with everybody else. Our sign can be an ostrich.
A friend and I were discussing this very thing just the other day. We came to the conclusion that rap and hip-hop will be what this era is remembered for, sadly enough. (I like some of it, but c'mon now..alot of it is just damn tacky)
A lotta everything is tacky... Hip-Hop is incredible poetry over awesome beats. Check out Sole, or Madlib or RJD2. Judging hip-hop by MTV is like trying to judge punk by Green Day.
what if this time will be "Time, when young people came back to the 60's" ... it's not joke.. i'm serious.. Imagine that stuff.. like.. you know..
You're right about that. I like alot of the non-mainstream hip hop. It's the "Back that ass up biotch" shit I hate. Just as long as it has meaning and isn't degrading to women, I can dig it.
