I really have to wonder why they didn't take steps to prevent Trump from becoming president, knowing what they did when they did.

 

It seems like Obama blocked them, assured Clinton would win and concerned that such would look like the government interfering in the process.

If you recall, Donny John was already talking about the election being rigged as he was behind in the polls.

 

That seems like an awfully big risk to take, especially since they knew that the Russians had influenced the outcomes of other elections, and Trump was basically promoting the Eurofascism that was posing a serious threat in multiple countries and that Trump was essentially repeating in the US.

 

I sometimes think that the governments who we elect and expect to respect and trust, have about the same mentality as a group of schoolchildren.

 

The whole Russia story is the epitome of fake news and actually helps Trump more than hinders him. This Russia bullshit has gone nowhere. The more the left wing media prattles on about this, the more people who support Trump defend him while turning a blind eye to some of the things they should be looking at. But they don't, because the media focuses on this shit instead. Nothing more than a distraction.

Trump is tied at the hip with Israel, yet nobody seems to care about that, despite the fact that Trump's foreign policy is dictated by Netanyahu and the Likud.

 

We've always been tied to Israel. This is not new. And you know this is fake news how? Because Trump says so? Did Russia fool with our election or not? Is that OK with you if they did? You still maintaining the "crisis actor "theories" on Sandy Hook?

I wish Obama had done more to show the American people Russian tampering. But he also understood that no one would believe him. It would only prove all the conspiracy people right that said he would look for an excuse to delegitimize Trump or to prevent the election totally. Obama also had meetings with Putin where he laid down the law and apparently no one hacked Obama. He never made a big deal tweeting about it either unlike the current president. Hacking of that nature is a crime of war.

The intelligence to know when to walk away and to know when to show force are both lacking in current politics. Imagine telling American people in the 1960's that in 2018 Russia would still not be democratic, they will interfere in American elections, and the Republican party will not care. They would probably think we lost the Cold War.

If DJT was the master of anything, it was always deceit & diversion. When the USSR collapsed (1991) & 100s of KGB operatives were left twisting in the NYC winds, on whom better to ply their covert expertise than the publicity-prowling "real estate mogul" that steadfastly insisted every failure was a rousing success? Besides, as reported in our pro-wealthy white guy media, then & later, Russian gamblers were tripping over themselves to launder money @The newly opened (1990) Trump Taj Mahal. (Strangely, they were not doing the same @Trump's other two AC casino-hotels of the day, Castle & Plaza.)

Even if the Russia probe turns up little more than headlines, the Russian officials & oligarchs always had good reasons to fuel a Trump campaign & suppress a H. Clinton one: they associated her w/ that ex-pres. husband, who pushed (along w/ predecessor Bush I & all successors) NATO into former Soviet republics & satellites. Putin & pals still simmering over that.

Moreover, Pres. Clinton was hot to trot about American energy companies moving on fabled natural gas pipeline out of Uzbekistan, even while that former Soviet republic produced the first natl. Islamic militia, which immediately sold it souls to the still-nascent al-Qaeda. Except for peddling the "we-won-the-Cold-War" line to anyone that'd print it, U.S. officials had no idea what to do w/ a non-Soviet Russia in 1991; we now reap the detritus of absolutely no forn. policy.

 

That is precisely what they are. Most elected officials are silver spoon beneficiaries who have been raised in a virtual bubble their entire lives. Few of them have any concept of how the rest of us, the hoi polloi as they see us, actually live. Then they look on with horror when we don't react in a manner they can predict (like when we got a pompous blowhard for a president while the establishment crook didn't even get a participation trophy).

This is the wisdom of the American founders actually. The system they created has been an excellent filter and has kept us from true totalitarian rule since inception. The people actually DO control the flow of progress and direction (albeit slowly since the ruling elite have built a wall of paper delay tactics over the years, that's what we get for electing lawyers and rich people).
