Why do you make me Google everything? I looked up Butlins and it's family resorts, etc. Do they offer summer camps for kids? Being an American I've never heard of them!
This place isthe best! I lived not far away from there in Northern California for years. Always had great fun at the property next door which is part of the whole...Black Rock Ranch. They held annual concert/rave/camping weekends for Earth Dance (I went several years in a row), and other big events with a sea of campers, amenities, food courts, a stream thru the property for naked bathing... and shamans, gurus, talking walking trees, and of course Wavy Gravy as your host. He's the best...hope he is still alive. I once saw him marry a couple on stage in front of 10,000 people wearing his clown suit.
About ten miles north of there is a roadside attraction known as Area 101 (on Highway 101) which is where the Emerald Cup had it's origins. A campground resort with just 24 camp istes from the 1930s in the redwoods became a Buddhist retreat, rave center and 'Cannabis Cup' every winter for the harvest...it grew and grew to the point they had to move it down the road to the State Fair Ground in Santa Rosa. It became quite the monstrous event after legalization in California.
