Hmmm, for me, I mean, the child I am having Mahari if a boy, meaning 'Forgiveness' in African Kalahari if a girl....
Mahari in Arabic/Berber Language means "Tent". Weird. It's funny when names have so many meanings in other language. Mine derives from the russian term for "born on christmas" and in arabic it means "the second". (the name's tanja)
my DD's are: Kaya Rain Anya Nella We are ttc another wee one as of now, and I know my DH and I will spend 9 months arguing about the names! But..he doesn't know it yet!...the names I have picked out are...: boy: Judah (this is the name I have always had picked out for my boy!) gal: Myla (thought I made that up but turns out there are a few ladies have that name!) Nora (to get away from 2 syllable girl names with y's and a's in them ;-p)
My kids are Micah Alan and Guinevere Katherine. Micah means "who is like God" and Guinevere means "fair one"
Tent huh? Well, I haven't talked with my partner a whole lot about names, so maybe it will be changed! hehe Namaste Francine
I am so sorry I mixed it up, it's not tent, its the sort of seat you use to ride on a camel. But, I woulnd't worry about all the meanings. You can never fit it for all languages. Just chose the one, that has one beautiful meaning, and a wonderful sound. And Mehari is definately a beautiful sounding word. I personally love the jemeni arabic word for strawberry, Fraula. (it does not rhyme with Paula!!! more like Fra - oola and a rolling R) And in the iconography (meaning of images) strawberries are a symbol for all the good things.
Hehehe AH! I like camels!!! And have always wanted to ride one! I know someone who is Indian and has riden horses, camels and elephants! Man! I HATE AMERICA! UGH! GET ME OUT OF THIS FRIGGIN COUNTRY RIGHT NOW!!! AHHHHHHHH! BEFORE I GO MAD! And too, Fraula does sound nice Namaste Blessings Francine
If we ever decide to have kids the first (boy or girl) will be Skye after him and on a totally unrelated note, I love the story of how he got his name and thought I would share, the night before he was born his parents were on vacation in Myrtle Beach and they couldnt sleep, so they were looking out at the sky and just thought it was so beautiful that they had to name him that...that is what I really hope to do, take something that stood out to me the most the day/night of their birth and incoporate it...
my daughter who is 6 is named Lillian Star but we just call her Lilly my son who is 2 is Jimi Nowell (after Jimi Hendrix and Bradley Nowell) ....................... and my baby in my tummy is gonna be named Zion Che Marley hopefully he doesnt think two middle names are too many
