I hate to say this, and I hate to think it's true, but I really think that this is the staging for a pre-planned invasion of Syria, and the kidnapped soldiers are simply a pretense for the Israelis acting at this time.

If Israel had wanted to fight Syria before, it would have had to fight Syria in Lebanon-now the Syrians aren't there any more, and they can use Lebanon as a staging ground for attacking Syria, with American help, of course. With Lebanon invaded, occupied and weakened, Israel can attack Syria from two fronts.

Lebanon is a little like Belgium. I'ts a small, diverse country that is stuck between warring powers and is used as a staging ground for them fighting each other, with a government that isn't powerful enough to resist.

They don't seem to be stopping anything. If they were why all the whining about needed international help?
I will keep my personal opinon of you to myself.
Most world bodies have an interest here somehow.
No terrorism means the killing of civialians with no hope of inficting harm on the Military apparatus. Thus killing for killings sake.
Again I will avoid the personal attacks but whatever makes you feel better.
Oh yea being paid real well. I have a different opinion then you, that means I am taking money for it??
Yes I believe that. Israel is surviving just fine on the resources it has. Where are the Palistinians going to find work? Israel. Why would they have to worry about it anyway the US is not going to let one of their main allies in the Middle East go under any time soon. Why would moving the Palestenians to Southern Lebanon solve any of their problems. They would still have a people that hate them right on their border. I don't see how that would solve anything for them. Please elaborate.

Oh and by the way, capturing soldiers with the intent to do exchanges IS a war crime. Look it up.

What resources does Israel have besides the money it receives from the US? Palestians do want to work in Israel, it's their country too. To try and restrict them is part of the problem. So this is all about moving Israel's problem of the Palestians into a colony in Lebanon, then why not be honest about that! It's still bullshit, but why try and sell the world on something that is untrue. The Israeli's are the terrorists here. Israel never abided by the Oslo accords, why should we buy their excuses now.

Then why are you crying for International intervention. They supposedly have Allah on their side plus the are so effective. Nothing gets past em, yea.

It is surviving just fine on its own. Your side was saying they "NEEDED MORE RESOURCES", now they have enough?

Aren't your smilies cute. Huh. Good point.

The point here for me is that they are not going to stop hating us and Israel no matter what happens. They are bent on our distruction. So if its War ya want don't whine when it finds ya.

Still waiting for the country that you feel was not founded on "(invaded lands or stolen lands)". It was all taken from somebody.

I think what is happening and what has happened is horrible. This is the start of something VERY WRONG and VERY BAD. This is ridiculous and callouse.

My biggest fear is that instead of things letting up, or a peace agreement being reached, that the conflict will escalate into a world wide thing. Right now, it is a centralized thing, going on "OVER THERE" but i dont think its too long until things spread...and fast. Now i suppose that this theory would be assuming that the US butts in like it always does, but i foresee this happening because we simply have to enable everyone to do bad things so that we can go in there and inevitably fuck it all up.

Shame on what has been created! Shame on the people who have brought unneccessary violence into the world...

I am constantly reminded that there is a madness. There is a sickness within people that causes us to be too passionate and unleash terrible demons on eachother.

The world has truly gone mad. And we are no exception. The UN not helping people to evacuate is a cowardly maneuver. The UN is obselete! We are enablers and Israel is being childish.

I am sure that some would disagree with many things i have just said. and i am not saying that the PEOPLE of these countries or entities are bad. But the things that the violent people are orchestrating are going to have MUCH bigger ramifications if we can not put a lid on some the sordid details of their past. People have to learn to co exist peacefully. Why is this such a hard concept to grasp?

I do not understand the violence. I do not understand why it is neccessary to take out a 3000 year old grudge on innocent people!!! I do not now nor will i ever understand what pushes people to this level. It is NEVER acceptable. It is NEVER right.

And all i can say is that i am sorry that anyone has to feel pain or fear over these issues which are old and seem to just NEVER go away.

It seems so far away and so removed from anything that i have ever known-- but the possibility of its closeness is a terrifying thought.

May God Bless everyone who is over there, and help to protect the innocent from people's foolish passions.
    Peace and Love

    Quote Condoleezza Rice:

"This is a complex time,a worring time,a time of great concern about the toll on civilians. It is also a time when we have an opportunity to lay a foundation...for a permanent cessation of violence".

A mish-mash of double-talk.In other words we can defeat the terrorist Hisbollah, even though hundreds of innocent civilians will be killed, doing so,because we may sustain a lasting peace????.......

..............& she'd like to be the Republican Presidential Candidate in 2008.If you are a U.S. voter;I'd start worring now!.:(

I dont think its WW3 YET, but i think it could definately come to that... but then again, lets be logical...how many have thought that at how many points since WW2 ended???

I have been trying to watch things from the 60s and 70s to try and gain some perspective. I think that people felt much like we do now in those times, which we also worrisome times and filled with uncertainties.

I dont know what the answer is... but maybe idioteque could let us know....
Idioteque, is there anything we can personally do to help you or anyone you know? Can we send food or clothing or can we somehow help?

In many ways the situation is already much more critical for humanity as a whole than it was during the world wars. Sadly, most of us just don't see how the World is burning already, even if bombs are not falling everywhere.

Well, more likely, some of them dont care...

ignorance is bliss i suppose, to those who do not wish to make a difference.

This is critical, you're right, ginger ali. Its bad, and its only getting worse. The worst part for me is how ignorant people are about this whole thing. People think its okay for israel to this. They think its because of terrorism, and maybe that is partially true, but they have no right to kill like this. No one ever has the right to do such things...to take lives in this manner and to rape people's homes.

And i love the good old "american" attitude....like its all been coming to em anyway...hell, its practically entertainment for some. Its just another thing to watch the middle east do.

sometimes humanity is laid so cruelly naked before me, that i almost do not recognize the sight.

    Peace and love to all

The innocent are in my prayers
