My partner and I have been discussing starting our own family. We're not 100% sure on how we want to go about this. We have discussed me being pregnant (She is unable to do so to a medical issue from childhood) and if possible mixing our eggs so we didn't know who was the "mother" and a sperm donor. We talked about ISF, we talked about mutual friends (but I'm very uncomfortable with that route) being sperm donors, we even talked adoption. We were both adopted (she fully, me by my dad) and I think that would be a nice touch some point...but I know adoption is difficult now for same sex couples (from what I read). I also really want the experience of being pregnant and birthing a child. I feel bad Jan can't do the same (she has had surgical removal of her uterus but still has her ovaries due to a very bad cyst and infection) even though she says it's no big deal.

I was wondering for any of you who have started your own families or looked into it sharing your experiences. And if there are other options we can consider. Thanks. Kris

Hi we have given thought to do like an ISF and have her and my eggs both implanted....and I would be the one to carry the baby. We would have to look more into this though cause of her issues, not sure if her eggs are viable or not. We would agree not to get a DNA test so we didn't know who the biological mom was (although of course if the baby looks more like one of us it may be obvious).
