I'm planning on thru-hiking/camping the C&O Canal next Saturday, June 8. The path extends from Georgetown (DC) to Cumberland in Western MD. I will start and finish in Georgetown, traveling a total of about 368 miles. Despite the length, the hike is not difficult, as the slope is pretty flat, plus there are plenty of places along the way to stop and rest (restaurants, shops, first aid, etc). The trip will take approximately 16 DAYS. This is kind of a long time, so having good company is always appreciated. My plan is to travel light, carrying a tent, sleeping bag, essentials, and some food, while stopping as needed to have enough food while still keeping the pack lightweight. Why am I doing this trip? I'm too stressed out and I really need to immerse myself in nature for a while to clear my weary mind of many things. Obviously you will need to have 16 days of free time coming up, and a fascination with the outdoors. I would love to have someone to talk to and camp out under the stars with during this trip. If you're interested, let me know.
Better check to see where camping is permissible along that densely populated path. Perhaps shoot west a few miles and section hike on the AT.
Sure it is great fun. But I cannot put a tent up. I know you guys can, I have seen the sheets in the morning. lol
