    Well... I grew up in Cwmbran which is only a stone's throw away from Newport... ah the memories... used to go to Newport on a Saturday to get into TJs if there was a band on, or try to sneak into a nightclub and avoid getting glassed... didn't realise how incredibly violent it used to be until I moved away and someone informed that Newport had as many violent crimes per capita as big cities like Manchester...

    Of course, Newport is now a mecca of culture...

    You knows it...

    It also used to be a crime in schools in Wales to speak Welsh and if anyone did they had to wear a plaque around their neck with a WN on it and whoever was wearing it at the end of the day had a beating from the head-teacher.
