yeah i just posted one about this in random thoughts. they uped it to 31 dead and 29 in hospitals...i cant believe it.
32 dead, now. President Bush is to make a statement at 4:20pm... It's already the largest mass murder in US History, so far.
I know over a good half dozen people who go there, including two next door neighbors who I know are fine, as I just talked to them about a minute ago. Don't know about anyone else... I also used to have teachers that taught there.
It's Virginia Polytechnic Institute & State University... not a technical college. It's actually always been more of a mechanical college and research university than it will ever be a technical school. I know more people who go there than any other university... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Virginia_Polytechnic_Institute_and_State_University
Yeah, this was all the news at work today. I was very upset on my way home, listening to the news. I casually know a few people who go there, but still it was so close to home.
Yea this is absolutley insane, I found out early like, 2 am this morning when I finally tuned into media waves! I wasnt shocked, to be honest, just sad. What really can be said? Shit happens, and this is complete non sense. I cant even imagine how those affected personally feel, my thoughts go out to them, for what its worth.
It is insane and it is tragic. The electronic media machine has told us that it's the most tragic shooting in U.S. history. I doubt this mitigates things for families that lost loved ones in events deemed less newsworthy.
Knowing a neighbor who goes there had contact with the guy is a little creepy. http://www.cnn.com/2007/US/04/18/vtech.shooting/index.html
RIP Stack, Reema, Caitlin everyone else. Didn't know Caitlin, so well, but she roomed with someone I went to High School with... Reema was with Northern VA., a major theater company that does productions in various places around VA. She did a work-study program at my school. One of the kinds of people who you'd never suspect would have an enemy or die in an act like this. Same way with Stack... most people who had visited the Ambler dorms knew him, wether you went to the school or not. Just a usual thing to stop by VT or JMU, in Harrisonburg, if we were in the area on special occasions or holidays. Didn't know Michael at all, but his aunt married my other US history teacher, since he was from Brooklyn and they're a Jersey family. She was a field hockey coach at my school, for a bit. Don't really know how they all ended up in VA, but whatever works... Tommy Reamon, runningback for the Pittsburgh Steelers, was also one of our weigtlifting instructors/health teachers. His son was just drafted for Quarterback at Tech. I'm still not sure if it's set in yet. I'm trying to avoid the news, for the most part, glad someone besides Cho is being talked about now. http://www.cnn.com/SPECIALS/2007/virginiatech.shootings/victims/index.html
