I do not vote. I believe in the power of not voting. if less and less people vote, the system loses out in the end. "they" are the ones who want you to vote, hence all the propaganda. choose between a couple of assholes, or choose not to play their game.

Yeah, that's all nice and all... but honestly... people vote. Enough people vote to choose a president. Voting is a right you should exercise, maybe not so much on a national level, even though I'd still do anything I can to not have McCain as president, but on a local level. People who do not vote on local issues that affect them are idiots.

Yeah but so is "not voting" is also a right you can choose to exercise as well...

I don't vote and I have my reasons for not voting. I don't go around telling people not to vote, people can do what they want. I just don't like people getting in my face or telling me I'm an idiot just because I choose not to vote. To each their own...

The vacuum left behind by civil disengagement and shrinking social capital is being filled by special interest groups that make politics less palatable. Lets solve the problem of a lack of public participation by not voting.

    Good plan, guys.

I have the right to choose if I want to vote or not.. If I don't like any of the said people running, why do I HAVE to pick one? I don't. And that is my right, just like you have the right to do what you want. Why get all over people who choose not to vote? I mean really, should I just hurry and pick one just because, or really place my vote for someone who I really want. I vote for people I want to vote for, not "just because".. This whole "you must vote" is BS... I vote for who I want, not just because it's the other option or the lesser evil...
It's great that you vote, wonderful for you, seriously. But just because I CHOOSE not too doesn't mean crap. It's my decision and we all have the right to it.

You do have a right not to. I just think it's bad for our society when a lot of people chose not to contribute to democracy.

Then go spoil your ballot and make a statement.

And it isn't as if candidates magically appear. Go vote in primaries. Hell, go campaign for the person you like in the primaries. Donate money or donate time.

Just don't delude yourself too much that staying home is any choice but sloth.

And while I'm not American and not particularly familiar with your consitution, I doubt the right to not vote is protected. It rarely is.

Maybe I will contribute when I care for some of the people running, but until that day happens, I won't. I am not just going to go vote just because I can. When I vote, I vote for someone I WANT, not just "meh".. or "well, I have to pick someone I guess"...

If you don't vote, it's ridiculous that you would still go on complaining about everything wrong with this country. You're just as much a part of the problem as the Man is.

It's much better to vote a canidate with similar views than one you 'like'.

In 2000 people 'liked' Bush. He seemed like a guy who they'd like to get a beer with.

Didn't work out. It's better to have a snobby elitist with policies you'd agree with then otherwise.

Honestly though, voters can be such snobs :D

I am political, yes, but perhaps the action of voting isnt the biggest deal to me. Doesnt make me a sloth at all.
