7river- the website does address the issue of republican corruption. they argue that republicans would actually be doing themselves a misservice, not only because they would have to lie to their vote swapping partner and prove how nasty Repulsicans ca be, but that if a safe-stater poses as a Kerry supporter willing to vote 3rd party, then it won't affect the outcome anyway because Bush will diefinitely win the state, and if a Rep. poses as a 3rd party supporter in a swing state willing to vote for Kerry, but then votes for Bush, we know he would have voted for Bush anyway and what that does is have somebody in a safe state make an unswapped vote for a third party which doesn't really affect any outcomes since Kerry votepairers only sign up for this because they are willing to support the third party movement. Those are the only two scenarios and it doesn't seem worth it for Republicans to do this. If 3rd parties become the norm, there will be another Ross Perot to take votes away from the Republican. Whew. That's hard to type, I'd again suggest looking at the website for their explanation. Ellis et. al, we've now got over 5500 signed up in Utah, and since the Republicans have nothing to worry about some of them are going to vote Badnarik and this state could start to be a real 3rd party oasis. Unfortunately, time will probably run out on these folks before their goal of 10k matches. It might still make a difference if a swing state is within a hundred votes, but that's it.
I'll be writing in Kucinich. I thought about writing in Nader because Kucinich bowed out of the race, and Nader is atleast a popular name. But I decided if I am going to write someone in its going to be Kucinich. Kucinich in 08' YEAH!

i have a lot of respect for that decision...but... if bush gets re-elected will kucinich have the same chance of still holding his seat in congress? i think its important to realize if bush is re-elected, all bets are off. now, if kerry was in office, do you think kucinich's chances might be better? i do, for one thing, i'm sure we would have an election in four years and kucinich would have a reason to run third party.
I've written in candidates for every other election. Yes, even the last one where the idea of the day was that a vote for third party was a Vote for Bush. This time around, however, I did vote for one of the two evils simply because I'm not willing to risk it. In four years 'Bush' et al have shown exactly what they are capable of. I live in a definite Bush state so I suppose I could have said "oh well, he's going to win anyway" but the thought made me extremely uncomfortable. The person that posted about this being Bush's second term and having nothing to lose made a very valid point. Thus far, we've seen nothing but treachery and lies and all that with one more election to think about. I can't imagine what the world will be like if he wins in this election. Put Kerry in the hot seat and then raise hell.
it's an interesting idea, i've a friend in texas who might do it. turns out he and one of his friends are the only non-republicans in texas, so it should be alright.
