I can't find a voice therapist in my area, to help me work on my voice.

Do you know some learn-by-yourself stuff that might be of help?

Have you checked youtube? There are a lot of useful tutorials by trans women with very convincing voices. Here is the tgirl that inspired me to start practicing: https://www.youtube.com/user/candiFLA#p/u/43/qbaj4tIX1kw
Her advice was very helpful. Just remember, you can't have too many resources. Some methods work for some people but not for others. I spent hours upon hours searching for voice training instructions from google searches to torrenting training vids. I compiled everything I found and used all of the techniques I learned. I used to take an hour long drive every night and spent half the time practicing talking and the other half singing along to music. Unless you have an abnormally low voice to start with you should have no problems obtaining a passable voice with enough practice.
