Thanks to Irminsul for the Zubrowka bison grass vodka recommendation. I am absolutely loving this stuff. Great, unique flavor with some rather pronounced coconut notes in the finish. Probably one of the best vodkas I've had to date. Well worth the 23 bucks (a very reasonable price for the quality) I spent on it. I will definitely be buying this again.
Oh wow that's a touch different bottle than what I'm used to. Does it still have the blade of grass? =] Happy to share XD
To my knowledge, there are a couple different brands of Zubrowka. The one I purchased is Bak's, which is the only one I could find at the liquor store I was at.
"light" liquor is generally crap - vodka is the crappiest. Light tequila can be good, but generally dark everything is better.
That would depend on personal taste. I like both, but I tend to go for the clear stuff as it is more "pure" so to speak.
i don't much like vodka. the smoothest vodka i've ever tasted was Seagram's Extra Smooth Vodka - i could actually take shots of that stuff. best when kept in the freezer. but i am far from a vodka (or other alcohol) connoisseur. i prefer whiskey if i am gonna drink liquor. i like Seagram's Seven mixed with ginger ale.
I get the same thing sometimes, but sometimes I'm alright. I should probably keep track of what I'm drinking each time and try to see what brings it on, but that seems like it would be making drinking into too much work.
When I think of Ketel 1 I first think of jenever http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jenever, which basicly is for the dutch what vodka is for the russians. I'm not into hard liquor at all but when I indulge in some I also prefer vodka (or tequila sometimes). But I can't say I dig any particular brand more than others. Ketel1 or Smirnoff generally seemed good enough
You're absolut right, if there's a liquor worth paying a little premium for it's Vodka. I grew up drinking Mccormick's when I was a tyke and couldn't stand vodka untill I was about 25 and started trying better vodka's. Monopolowa's great, it started in Poland and is now made in Austria. Chilled properly, it's a great sipping vodka. I think I want a drink.
I want to dilute everclear with tap water in an expensive vodka bottle, and see what I can get people to say about it's quality.
I did get Chopin and I really enjoyed it. I will need to buy more vodka and I will look for some of the others suggested.
Not big on alcohol, and dont really get branding of vodka as it doesnt seem to have a taste by itself, more just a spirit you mix stuff with. But if I do drink go for this stuff:
That is what I originally thought, but there is clearly a difference between cheap vodka that comes in a plastic bottle, and something that is carefully crafted. There is a difference both in the taste and how you feel after drinking it. Cheap vodka will give you a nasty hangover. When I drink a quality vodka, I almost never have a hangover. The Zubrowka bison grass vodka recommended to me in this forum is probably the best vodka I've had to date, and really does have a unique flavor and aroma.
Vikingfjord ,, blah its rubbing alcohol at best.. I dump a few grams of bud in there make green dragon. ive no overall interest in hard licks.
Dont really drink at all though, had some of that stuff at Christmas and I think that was the first drink all year Im sure its true what you say about quality vodka
curious if you use that recreationally or medicinally? would be cool to drink something to get high, but i have very little tolerance to alcohol. and don't like getting drunk everyday
