I'd suggest reading "Lenin" by Hélène Carrère d'Encausse followed by Lenin's own work "The Emancipation of Women" to start; getting a full all around view of how his mind worked. Hélène's book is great but I found it to someewhaat lack a bit of depth into what made him tick. But that is easily resolved by reading his own works after the biography. "State and Revolution" is also a good read. It's a revolutionary classic. Anyway! Hope this helps.
