Anyone else notice verticals lift of colours or recession of colours when looking at graphics, especially on a computer screen. A lot of abstract artists also get these effects with paint, like the recently deceased Howard Hodgkin, for example. It's basically when colours jump out at you from the picture plane, or recede into the back. I want to research this with colour theory, and also try and see if there's any science behind it.

It's like a hologram, except with no holography.
