Indeed there is a good amount in religions about vegitarianism...mostly what made me finally decide to stop puttering around with the idea. I'm a Christian but I also consider myself a Hare Krishna (or some would call it a closet Hare Krishna) and I do not have the exact quote but Srilla Prabhupada was once talking to a Catholic priest and they were discussing the differences between the two religions and the topic of vegitarianism came up and Srilla Prabhupada said that the Bible did say "Thou shalt not kill" but never specified that it was pertaining to specifically human life...which is how it is often interpreted...and I guess I found that made perfect sence...also the fact that people can be reincarnated as animals and I found it horrible that I could've killed a past family member...

I highly doubt that God meant for his people to cram his beautiful creatures into tiny smelly cages, beat them, slit there throat, bleed them to death, and eat them. I always wondered that too, God teaches us respect and love for everything. He gave us dominion over them, yes, but dominion is not tyranny. The Queen of England has dominion over her people, she doesn't do this. Poor God, I'de be so pissed if I were him:p

The thing about being vegetarian is that it's a very specific moral issue, having little to do with religion. Choosing to not eat animals who are manufactured to be eaten or to think that animals ought to have the same respect and right to life than a human is, just that, a moral decision. Having religion helps, I suppose, knowing God (or whatever you worship) can kinda justify not eating animals.

I'm pagan, and there are quite a few points of view in the right of life - all life - and its all equal (the plants, the animals, people) so being vegetarian seems like an easy solution or the right way to go, although I became vegetarian long before I became Wiccan...

Whatever rocks your boat, naturaly. :)

I'm a Christian, and although I go through "phases", I go through many more vegetarian phases than I do omni phases. If I had my way I'd be a vegetarian or a even a vegan all the time, and I'm working on that.

I feel like that if an animal is killed humanely, then there's nothing wrong with eating that animal, as far as my personal religious convictions go. However, I know that most animals readily available were not killed humanely or lived a humane life, and I don't feel it's right to eat those animals, religiously or morally. I am just against eating meat, even if it's killed humanely, because it is gross to me and it makes me sick. (Yet I still eat it during my omni phases, why do I do this to myself?)
