I've been thinking about going veg for a while. I really wonder if it's a good idea or not? God I love meat. I know how poorly it's handled in the USA... but I just think it's soooooooo tasty.
If you love meat but are worried about the practices of the meat industry then buy meat that is humanely raised/killed instead. It's more expensive, yes... but since you're contemplating going veg then what you could do is just eat less meat... more veggie meals and meat from humane sources when you can afford it. That's what I do anyways.
Well, she mentioned she knows how it's poorly handled... I assumed that was why (hence my suggestion.)
Well, I could go on about how I've been vegetarian for years and how it's great for the environment and your health and the more compassionate lifestyle towards animals, but I won't waste my time because usually people that "love" meat, will continue to eat it. They might try vegetarianism for a week and then they'll come back saying it was horrible and they nearly died. So..just continue on with your flesh eating.
Well, vegetarianism is easy. Just do it if you want to. Lots of resources on the net about what to eat.
This. I don't eat a lot of meat but when I do I splurge on locally raised meat. It is more expensive but if you eat less meat you end up saving a lot of money.
Ever try it for any length of time? It ain't like giving up crack but it has its moments :/ I still miss bacon. Life would be easier if I eat meat.
I've been a vegetarian since I was 10 years old. I've been vegetarian over 18 years now. Never gone back to meat eating and as far as I remember, as a kid, the only meat I ever remember having were chicken nuggets and hot dogs. So I've never been a big meater, or really a meat eater at all. My kids are also being raised vegetarian.
I would try it, priss! I've been veg for years now and I haven't missed meat for a minute. I feel better, healthier, my blood pressure went down, I lost a bit of weight, I have withdrawn my money from the meat industry, helped stopped deforestation and other environmental issues. Most importantly, I'm causing less suffering in the world. It's very easy to get the proper nutrients on a vegetarian diet. It's also significantly less expensive than the alternative . There is a lot of anti-veg propaganda out there, and a lot of people will give you a hard time. They'll get over it. You'll keep on being healthy and happy. I can't imagine spending another dollar to contribute to animal suffering when I'm perfectly well without it.
You honestly have no desire for; Lamb chops with mint jelly Pork Chops with applesauce Roast Turkey with cranberry sauce Fried Chicken with BBQ sauce Hotdogs and Hamburgers right off the backyard grill and topped off with every variety of condiment Grilled Sausages with peppers onions and potatoes Or a nice juicy Filet Mignon with a Caesar or seizure salad :drool5: Hotwater
Each person is different, so it's up to each person to decide what is right for them. I know I could never be a vegetarian as my body is not suited for it. As far as meat goes and how it's handled, buying from a small, local farm eliminates the problem as to how the cattle is treated. Most animal abuse comes from large factory farms.
