I see them as not eating meat. But this is a very personal and sensitive topic to meat eaters. I doubt any Star Wars film will ever have a clear stance one way or the other. Disney wants everyone to pay for it. If it's clear Luke either likes meat or does not it offends what a Jedi is to the viewer. He needs to be your man your hero only.
I wish the Jedi were more individualistic. Like, they all have to look the same, think the same, act the same, dress the same... All we really have to go on is the oatmeal Yoda made Luke.
They probably eat bugs. They are also a quasi-medieval neo-chivalric order. Assuming similar garb and behaviour patterns fools the enemy. They transcended personality in favour of a more consistent and truthful way of being, and submerged individuality so as to further a greater cause.
Oh yeah? The Transformers all had personalities. So did the GI Joes. It went to show that there are causes greater than our individual selves.
i was never really a star wars guy, but wasn't there a part where luke (or maybe some other protagonist) cut open an animal and slept inside it or something like that?
Yep in the snow. Also, wasn't Yoda eating like a swamp rat thing? Mind = blown. They were kind of all virgin's too, right? except for certain, Darth Vader, but I don't suspect Luke lost his V card, like almost to his sister. That would have been worth a few laughs.
The animal died just before that, by natural causes. But yeah, jedis don't need to be vegan in order to be optimally balanced or be in tune with the force or something. Vegan wishful thinking!
Luke is definitely not. In the last Jedi he was catching fish and drinking milk from some sea creatures.
