My mother, who called today, says it was the final week. T-day had passed (I was ill that year and had nothing but cranberries) which is why I didn't have an anchor of an event to remember. She remembers that I was preparing food for the freezer (only rule in her kitchen after "clean up": if you have a wacky diet, YOU cook for it) when we learned of Lennon's murder. Neither of us ate for a couple days.
I went veg after my first Rainbow Gathering, July 2004. I had wanted to do it forever but Rainbow proved it was possible! I celebrated my 2-year veg anniversary by attending the Colorado Gathering.
since 2004...i was also vegan for about a year & 1/2 when i was 10 glad to have started young....the only thing i miss is bubble gum ice cream! guess i'll have to make bubble gum sorbet!
I've been meat-free since last October, so 10 months. I first called myself flexitarian, after reading Affluenza, then Fast Food Nation, then viewing SuperSize Me. But now I guess I'm mostly vegetarian, but occasionally lacto???? (Still figuring out the terminology.) I'm still working on the full-out vegan thing. I'm not buying non-food animal products, although I still own lots of things made from leather. And I still sometimes use dairy. I'm trying to wean off of it, but the half-and-half in the coffee and the occasional cheese are my sticking points. Not to mention cream sauces on my rare trips to Macaroni Grill. I hope to get there someday and be totally "animal-free." (Well, except for our dog, Max, and our kitties, Spook and Butterscotch, whom we intend to enjoy for many years!!)
October 8, 2004. I'm excited. I used to count it by the weeks. But then months and now I don't even remember it. But I know when it is. But I doubt I'll celebrate. One of my friends said I should celebreate by eating a piece of bacon and I'm like..wtf?
^^ tempeh bacon for all? ALT sandwiches? (avaocado, lettuce, tomatoes, try on Rye bread) Honey, you need better friends. Either this one is an ass or has a really bad sense of humor. ;P
I became a vegetarian on the last Monday of July in 2005..yeah I've only been a vegetarian for a year and a few weeks..but it makes me feel so free, I love not eating meat. I might become vegan one day, but for now I'm a vegatarian enjoying my marinara pasta and boca burgers!
i've only been a vege 4 bout 2-3 months. but it's so great. dont no whether i'll celebrate or anything tho.
Well, I don't remember the date I went vegan anymore. It's sometime in this month, September, so I think I'll just name September my anniversary month.
