This is my book, for anyone who didn't hear who wants to know. This post is already pushing the boundaries of my ability to self-promote, so that is all. Thank you. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Variables-...ywords=Variables+J+Ruth&qid=1570540637&sr=8-3
My attempt to leave you the first 5 star review was foiled by the eligibility requirements to give reviews for Amazon UK.
I doubt that, Andy. But I hope to write the second book with wider appeal so maybe one day : ) I'd like someone to do a graphic novel of it. Someone who can draw. Thank you, Mel. I conceived it and my very talented friend painted it. It's an oil painting and she was very patient while I got frustrated with the difficulties in describing something I can see in my head to her.. Haha.. And then, magickally, she got it right.. Possibly better than right. Thanks lode. I'm honored by all you guys support. Don't listen to Gb though it's not five star. 4 maybe : P I'll write a five star one next time...
Sounds really great and I wish I could read it for the insights, but my mathematics are my connection to mother nature, and I can't even look at some foreign languages, because they mess with my English mathematics. Just the shapes of the language messes with me, even though I can't read what it says. For me, language is all about shapes as much as content, which allows me to keep track of what's missing from this picture. Its a combination of Classical Geometry and Pointless Geometry, which studies regions instead of points, empowering me to use both integrals and differentials. I can easily do things like a Rubic's Cube in my head, but struggle to remember my own phone number and address. Its not an exaggeration to say I'm a biological computer that required a lifetime to program. I inherited my father's fabulous brain, and promptly damaged it all but beyond repair at three years old.
Writing and language are not a math, and it's pointless to look for the geometry of the human heart. You can't try to program brains into enjoying your writing and call that literature. Maybe it's math.
Did you get any inspiration for your book from The Machine Stops by E.M. Forster.? It was one of the books that I studied for my English Literature exam in the 1960's
I have not heard of this book but I will now look it up I'm more influenced to write by films, than other books.
That's okay if you don't read it : ) I'd love to know how I did with the shapes of my sentences though.
I had to think about that, because I've never analyzed your writing for geometry. I'll have to check out the book, but my guess is your writing tends to express more of a Mandelbrot pattern most of the time, and a Fractal Dragon for punctuation. That's a reflection of your spirituality, while someone more materialistic would have the opposite shapes, with a dramatic Fractal Dragon that tends to hide the Mandelbrot, because they always come together. The Mandelbrot or spirituality obeys a four fold symmetry that reflects the harmony of the universe, while the Dragon reflects the greater beauty and meaning that our mortal fallibility imposes on the harmony as balance. The trick is to comprehend how balance transforms into harmony and can be used to promote harmony. Note how this description I'm giving is a bit contradictory. Normally, we think of spirituality as more beautiful and meaningful and art such as classical paintings and music express clear Fractal Dragon patterns. Using humor, its possible to show how beauty and humor, spirituality and mortal fallibility, exchange identities.
This is so cool, congratulations. I see somebody has already read it and is selling as used. So you actually got the book printed into a book? That's awesome.
I got an email a couple of days ago that your book was dispatched. Dispatched sounds so much more official than shipped
Okay I have a gripe with the word dispatched. I believe it should be spelled, despatched. I believe this because when I pronounce the word, I say deh-spatched not Dis-patched.
