With the idea of owning usable land, without hidden issues like impact penalties, building requirements/restrictions, laws on water collection and composting toilets becoming more and more like a pipe-dream.... I've been fussing with the idea of a horse-drawn Vardo/Gypsy Wagon.

Are there others out there with them, and or have an interest in building one and wandering around?

That sounds like an excellent idea! I've never considered a gypsy wagon before, but now that you bring it up, it is definitely something I want to look into more.

Good Point Sappho… most of the OP's points disappear when you live on a boat.

Horse drawn devices are forbidden on many modern highways. But a boat, can travel on almost any navigable waterway, river, bay or ocean.

In my state, the owner of a $200,000 property (land) would have to pay property taxes on it around $4000 to $6000/year, but an owner of a $200,000 sailboat would have to pay anything except slip rental in a marina, $200-$300/month or $2400 to $3600/year. In some places marina slip rentals are even lower.
