The link between the war in Iraq and protecting our freedom is tenuous at best and when it's used as an answer to protests against that particular war then any credibility the pro war argument might have had is lost. On the other hand... Replacing the magnet someone is using to express his or her free speech in support of the troops is a form of censorship in and is wrong my opinion. The support the troops magnet is a piece of personal property and needs to be left alone. The protest action is crossing the line and hurts the anti-war movement.
I am all for protesting this war. The whole thing is ridiculous. I didn't mean that this war was about protecting freedom...but if there were no troops your freedom would be history pretty quick. It's the messing with someone else's car and their right to support the troops that I am annoyed with.
It's just kids being kids... No big deal. Eventually they'll get caught and get persecuted for vandalism.
Well I can't exactly differ with this except that it's based on the assumption that our freedoms aren't already history. From my perspective, most of the working poor can't afford much in the way of freedom and essentially exist as possessions of their employer. I do respect what you're saying though. We're in total agreement here.
oh no, some people are defacing bumper stickers. that people paid for with their money. what ever happened to good old flag burning?
Could be deliberate if some WWII vet shoots them with his glock. Those 20 year olds are idiots. There are better ways of social protest out there. What they're doing is just pissing off people, instead of making a difference. People are stupid.
Hmm maybe Im a bit tired today. If someone went round with a big banner on his car reading "Gas all Jews" or "burn all pakis" and someone tore it off , would people be saying" how dare you vandalise banner and his right to hate jews"? I dont support American troops because theyre commiting a genocide. Not everyone wants to admit it openly , but deep down most people know its the same sort of shit the SS used to do.
having a brother in law in the marines in iraq right now, i beg to differ. he's a very nice man. i think you're definitely overstating the case.
troops are killing machines, and i don't support machines that kill. In fact I despise them almost to the point that i oppose people who put a yellow magnet on their car in repentance for doing nothing to help things to begin with, but listen to Toby Kieth's hate anthems and wave little American flags, to keep from brainwashing a generation of the lower class into not protecting our freedoms, but bullying a country that could be took. If you're against the war get a red magnet that says "fuck the war". If you don't give a fuck feel free to slap on a yellow sticker to match your yellow soul, because it should be you coming home in a bag or a wheelchair never being able to truly love again, infected with the new form of Gulf War syndrome. By the way, in case you haven't noticed freedom of speech no longer exists, and desperate times call for desperate measures. Peeling off a magnet and replacing it with one that means the same thing is a crime i support. Here's an exercize in free speech, put a magnet on your car that says you "support the war, but not the troops". see how long that baby stays on. the war couldn't be fought without troops. the 2 are one in the same. The people that are over there weren't drafted. They volunteered to torture and kill for a cheap price, but bless their hearts.
I'd appreciate it if you didn't put age into effect. I thought I have already given enough reason to not do so? Ahhh the ignorance in the air! *sniff* I wasn't aware that they vandalized property, maybe I misread. Either way, I don't see it as wrong. Just as Evil said, if I walked around with a shirt that says "Fuck George W. Bush" how long will it be until they, "Vandalize" my shirt? We the People have a responsibility to keep this country running upon the principles it was based upon, and we are not doing so. Abuse of power is the very reason we split off from Britain. Wake up people! Peace and Love, John. Fuck the war.
