Valve working on Nintendo Switch-like console, report says This is pretty big news for gamers, because right now we have basically Sony, Nintendo, and Microsoft fighting it out, and Microsoft dominates computers and the internet. The issue is that handheld devices are becoming so powerful, there's little advantage to being a giant manufacturer, when anybody can buy cheap chips that will do the same job. Valve's experience with VR and Steam make this is a fantastic choice on their part, if they can pull it off, and they definitely have all the money to make it happen, even if it takes twice as long and costs twice as much. Handheld gaming devices like this, could easily become powerful enough to run VR glasses in the near future.
