Valentines Day

Figured i would start the next holiday thread, since the Christmas one is still being kicked around..

What do you think of this holiday?

For me, just another dumb holiday. The origin is eh and in the modern world just an excuse for retailers to make profits.

 

Just another way to rake in the cash. It's all about commerce.

I'll assume I'm the first woman replying to this. I think its a pointless holiday. The only people who typically enjoy it are young couples who are in their first year of dating. Besides that its a day to make single people feel like shit. SOME women get their hopes up and think this will be the year their man will read their mind and buy them something special. Let's face it. Guys rarely know what women really want unless its very clearly told to them. When the guys don't get them what they want it only frustrates them and causes fights. STUPID FUCKING "HOLIDAY"

This is going to sound cheesy but its true. Every valentines day my husband and I say "Happy Every Day" to each other and go about our day. No flowers, chocolates, gifts, etc. That shit doesnt mean anything one day a year. It's all the little things throughout the year. Nobody should have to set aside one day to make sure the people in their lives know they are loved. A few years ago I made my husband a cake in the shape of a heart that said "Happy Erry Day" on it. I should see if I can find a picture. I did it more for laughs than anything else.

So yeah, stupid holdiay that makes 75% of society feel like shit.

 

it is by far my least favorite holiday. I don't care for crowded restaurants or cheesy pointless stuffed animals or mediocre chocolate in a heart shaped box. And its always cold. I hate February.

 

It is easy to ignore. I don't think 75% of society feels like shit on that day. That sounds problematic.

 

How's it a holiday? Everyone still works, schools yeah?

 

Meh. Days come and go. It's not as if we have the right nor ability to designate them as anything special.

I got a little candy heart left on my desk that said "Be My Valentine" from someone when I was in grade school.

It warmed my heart enough that I still remember it 40+ years later.

I think some traditions should never go away.

I don't remember if I ever found out who it was. but I'm sure I didn't pork 'em, lol.

 

Valentine's day is very corny, but I always have fun with it....I love to make handmade little works of art Valnetine Day cards.... and you would be lucky to get one....

between the 50% of society that is obese and probably another 25% with other health issues, i could imagine that around 75% of society doesn't feel particularly good on any given day.
