The music industry already has computers and algorithms that can predict exactly how much money a song will make. They've invested in computers that can produce the music themselves, with the first computer hit singles being produced, and computer generated pop music could soon become the standard. Such music is noticeably devoid of any intonation, and computers can generate singing voices that are humanly impossible.

In 2003 the contestants on American Idol were given a list of ‘banned songs’ they couldn’t sing.
These included anything by Mariah Carey, Bruce Springsteen, No Doubt, R. Kelly, Tom Petty, Korn and Linkin Park after concerns over the cost of securing rights for the song’s use (or the composers not wanting their song’s to be performed on the show).
