US Worker's Incomes Dropping!

Me and my husband actually do pretty well...And we sure as hell do give back to the poor and homeless here in Austin. I already make well over minimum wage, as does my husband. I don't have the opinions that I do because of my situation, I have them because of others. Just becouse I am doing fine doesn't mean that I am going to forget the many people I konw working minumum wage and that are unable to pay their bills.

No one want's to give these guys a tax break, yet no one wants to raise their incomes either. We will just let them be doomed to a life of food stamps and shitty, run down little apartment homes in high-crime areas.

Real American, what we are doing is offering up solutions. Just because I am not living month to month doesn't mean I can forget those who ae. I want to make a better situation for all americans, not just myself.

 

Heres a solution for you Sera; Close our damn borders! Emigrate the illegals who are already here. Keep track of them. If they come back, jail them. If they come back again, jail them longer. Quit giving them food stamps and other blessings for being here.Prosecute companies that employ them. Make the companies pay 10 times minimum wage in fines to thier communities for every hour a wet back works for them. Shut down thier damn business' on the third strike and fine them thier entire holdings. Pull the soldiers out of Iraq and put them on our borders with orders to shoot.
Think about this. What is accomplished for America to allow immigration? On the average, these people are leeches who once here disrespect America and all that America once stood for. If they are worth having they would have accomplished something worthwhile in thier own countries.

 

Wow...you forget that all of us came to America as immagrants. There is no family line here in American besides Native Americans that didn't immagrate from another country at some point.

I don't see how complaining about immagration and making racial slurs has to do with minimum wage....

 

When my ancestors came to America Sera, they were needed. This was a large country with a small population and plenty of oppurtunity for those who chose to work and work hard. Survival depended upon thier own reserve and not free handouts by Americas government. They came from Scottland in the early 1800's. They weren't given anything once they came into this country. They worked for it. They didn't whine and cry and moan that they were being treated unfairly. They respected the laws and the ways of this land. They did not try to change those laws to benifit them, they upheld them. They left behind the ways of Scottland and became Americans first. They were hard working men and women. This is true of nearly all the Whites who migrated to this country. And still is. Compare those people to the border jumpers of today. One more thing, my ancestors came into this country legally. Todays immigrants are commiting a criminal act just by entering this country without proper documentation. Should we allow criminals to stay? Any way, rid us of the 150,000 per month who come to this country 'undocumented' and watch how quickly our economy rises.

P.S. Native Americans are of Asian descent and therefore also immigrants.

Actualy, I haven't responded to his idiotic way of thinking because I was trying my best to understad him. I am not sure why he turned this into a racial mater. I do understand that as more illegal immagrants come into this country there will be less well paying manual labor jobs. I don'tblame this on Bush However, I blame this on the agencies that we pay to take care of these matters. As for a few of the other comments. Well, seeing as I live in one of those bad neighborhoods you are reffering too, have been on food stamps, am considered poor, I think I can pretty much speak for the other side. GET OFF YOUR BUT AND CHANGE SOMETHING IF YOU AREN'T HAPPY. It isn't Bush's fault that a company won't hire you. It isn't his fault if the company finds a way to do something without you. Welcome to the world, home of the greedy. No mateer who is in ofice companies will always try to pay cheaper to get more. The real problem with our economy is the fact that there are so many people that are comfortable in their lifestyle they don't see a need for change.

You know what, this discusion isn't even worth it. Because once again all it is is talk. Let me know when all of america goes on strike. Until then, quit trying to put all of Americas problems on Bush. The world has been fucked for longer than his term.

They say we get what we pray for. To all of you "I love everyone," liberals, you are getting it, at 150,000 illegals a month. You deserve it. I shouldn't worry about it since it could benifit me as I own 3 bussiness' and am not in a bind financially. But who cares right? You should all be on welfare, expecting the ones like me to support you; there is no reason for you to carry your own weight, not when America is rich from people like me, who will work 80+ hours a week. Truth is, I should never have to buy toilet paper again. You should all be lined up to lick my ass every time I take a dump. Get off your cry baby asses and do something. Lock up the borders and go to work. I started at 14 years old. At 19 my mother died and I took on the responsibility of raising my then 9 year old brother. I have never been on welfare or taken one nickle in food stamps. I am sick of your crying that the economy is bad because of the government. The economy is bad because you are LAZY. You hide from your responsibilities as citizens and patriots to find the truth and chose to belive that the government - under anyones rule - owes you. No.

I don't even know where to start with this post... You actually think that the economy is bad because we (i guess you mean liberals, or maybe just everyone but you, or maybe everyone who is poor) is LAZY? I don't think I even need to point out how nonsesical that is.

Ya know, I guess you could consider me liberal...I am definitely not conservative. I make a damn good living for myself. In fact, me and my hubby make more than my parents do, and they make a good living. I have never been on welfare or needed food stamps. I have suffered through family tragedy myself. We aren't so different, except I am not so filled with hate.

I grew up in Flint, Michigan...I lived there during the major lay-offs they had. 30,000+ lost their jobs. In a town that grew up around GM, there wern't ANY jobs left when those 30,000 were lost. Not to mention all the retail that went out of business due to A LOT less consumer spending. They all ended up using food stamps, standing in the unemployment line...what would you have had them do? Lick you ass too?

I don't think that the government owes me. I think we all (including me) owe our commuinities. Sorry for being so unpatriotic. I am a terrible citizen...

I carry my own weight, and when I can I help my friends and commuinity too. Excuse us "liberals" for have some compassion and empathy for our fellow man. We are so evil.

 

And to add AGAIN, no, it is not necessarily BUSH'S fault that the economy is bad, but it IS THE LAWMAKER'S FAULTS when they pass legislation that permits corporations to send good-paying American jobs to human rights violating sweatshop nations like China. It is the LAWMAKER'S FAULTS when they pass legislation weakening unions, when they protect corporations like Wal-Mart that fire employees who seek protection, when they pass legislation attacking overtime pay... It sure as hell isn't the fault of MEXICANS that jobs are being shipped to CHINA. Christ.


And to clarify, I am hardly of this opinion because I am "lazy" or unable to get a good job. I am currently earning a PhD, prior to which I was using my master's degree to work as a therapist, and had to turn down a position paying $40 an hour because I was returning to school.

US growth is not "almost stagnant". Economists are expecting 4.6% growth in 2004 and 3.6% in 2005. The Euro Area (countries using the Euro as a currency) is expected to grow 1.8% in 2004 and 2.0% in 2005. So looks like it is Europe that is falling behind, not the US.

 

I would just like to put in here that a countries economic ‘growth’ should not be seen as relating to the quality of life of the people in those countries. A high growth figure can be based on sweated labour or can involve the economic rewards going to a limited amount of people. If high economic growth comes at a departmental social cost it is not worth it, it could be better to have a slower growth rate if that comes at the cost of a better quality of life for all.
