I only know personally of one man who was doomed to schizophrenia who quickened the onset of his disease by smoking pot. But at the same time, any number of drugs I don't know about could have hurt him as well. Who knows?

 

I would say human beings as a whole are a singularly nasty species of animal if fighting to the death for sex, food, territory and pussy wasn't so wide spread even among the peaceful grazers. But then you add in the fear of death, the cathartic effect of violence among people with miserable lives, as well as the deep-seated need many people have to either see what death looks like or to trivialize it due to their fear of it and you have a very complex picture. After all, besides the desire for violence we also have the drive to save as many people as we can and make their lives livable. Just like the good parents, prides and packs in the animal world.

 

Hahaha. Me neither. Except to entertain. Even crazy people have good ideas sometimes, though.

i think people read too much into things. what evidence do any of you have to backup your theories.

a guy lost his mind and shot a bunch of people. and thats that. if you really believe that people in a van with parts from radioshack told this guy through his radio to kill a congressman and however many other people, then please, show me the evidence. if you have none, then why bring up claims like that because quite frankly its just retarded.

Because this is an open discussion. If we were to simply go by what the news says, what would there even be to discuss?

"Hey, anyone else hear about what this crazy guy did?"

"Yea, wasn't it awful."

"Yes it was..."

Atleast have evidence to back up your claims. Discuss it, okay. But if youre going to say this guy was mind controlled into doing this by sarah palin and her tea party and gifford was clearly a target because of crosshairs on some map, then have evidence to back it up. Because ive seen videos and comments on here stating these things and i still see no evidence. Same thing about how facebook is the CIA and everything, wheres the damn evidence?

What we should be discussing is how things like this can be prevented in the future and how this crazy dude got his hands on a gun in the first place

Why, where's the fun in that? Every few years a nutcase gets hold of a gun and goes a little nuts. Keeps people on their toes... (joke?)

 

I think a good step to preventing it would be keeping phrases like "Don't retreat- RELOAD!" out of American politics. Even if it may be a valid rallying cry some day, we definitely don't need it to be from the mouths of politicians.

But again, I'm not one that blames Sarah Palin and her idiotic comments for this tragedy. I certainly CAN see why a crazy person would take the words of a "trusted Fox pundit" quite literally. We give this woman authority, and she uses it to introduce vaguely violent rhetoric. It's a lose-lose.

 

I notice they (the press) finally started talking about some of the other victims...it seems one was a judge and the 9 year old was the second cousin to some barely known actress.....I guess the other 4 killed people arent lucky enough to have some obscure relative or prestigious employment to make their names/death newsworthy

Dear god, if nothing else, please put an end to palin's career. I still don't think her inane ramblings are to blame, considering how much of it has been flying back and forth, but fornthe love of dignity and sense, end that woman's career.
