Looks as if you decided to actually do some research.

    I haven't been able to find anything specifically relating to LSD acting as a diuretic, and as there are many mechanisms by which diuretics work;
    Thiazides diuretics
    Loop diuretics
    Potassium sparing diuretics
    Carbonic anhydrase inhibitors
    Osmotic diuretics

it is hard to pin down just how LSD causes such an effect. I'm not a nephrologist nor do I care to become one, so I'll let you do the research on this one. What is severely flawed is your assumption that any substance that increases urine production is doing so to "flush out the toxins".
The diuretic action of LSD does occur in a percentage of people, but again it is really so inconsequential as to render it of no concern.

Concerning the uterine contractions, that's correct, but considering as arule I always council against pregnant women taking ANY substance, including a plethora of over the counter meds or foods, I didn't consider it in this discussion, my error. While we're at it we should also mention HPPD which can occur with any psychedelic, but again it the occurrence rate is well below 2-3% of people who use psychedelics, and long term HPPD occurs at a rate of less than 1%.
Lasting psychological issues and psychosis also occurs with LSD use at a rate well below 1% and in the instances where it does occur they have found that almost all cases involved individuals who had pre-existing psychological issues, were borderline or pre-schizophrenic or had a strong genetic predisposition to mental illness.

So I will acquiesce and say that LSD is 99% safe. That is much, much safer than most common medications and many common substances such as caffeine or refined sugar.

As I stated before, I've already done this show and have no desire to re-enact it here. Here is the link to the previously mentioned "debate".

And yes, I'm PB_Smith. You can also peruse my posts under that name here if you wish to further question my knowledge of the topic.
Other than that I'm done with this.
    Have a good day.

Well, I'm glad we reached a constructive conclusion. I'm sorry I was pedantic. Thanks for the info regarding LSD and ergot, I have learned much that I'm sure will come in useful some day.

Not sure what show you're going on about, I was only disputing one aspect of what you have said, the rest I agree with. You put some words (and assumptions) in my mouth, I feel. Anyways, it matters not. Peace and love at you, Herman.

I've shown that "Medical Studies Prove The Extensive Damage LSD Does To The Body & Mind" page to all of my friends who think acid is dangerous. Has anyone ever encountered a study documenting LSD and depression? I've read in multiple places there is somewhat of a correlation but I can't find anything else than that.

I would think that the depressed people merely use LSD to escape their lives and become dependant on chemical stimulation rather than genuine fulfilment. It is people that choose to be depressed, no chemical can truly do that to someone (except legal and prescription drugs).

...and the chemicals in your brain that determine things like . . . mood and depression . . . like serotonin :)

I don't think anyone chooses to have low serotonin.

A body count! We need a body count from LSD-induced deaths, not that vague old doo-dah about unquantified problems like may be correlated with >depression.

Many medicines and substances should be avoided by pregnant women.

As for Herman's wild insinuations, clearly he suffers from St. Anthony's Fire - he got one thing in common with mustlive, he got the fire down below, but unlike many others, he gonna hold you in his arms 'til you can feel his disease.

Everywhere I turn today, there's Rimbaud.

So, this Shiva - Shhhiiivaaaa - of which you speak, how many of the, how do you say, micrograms might one find in (I wish you were listening to the trance-forming tracks I'm listening to right now, we'd all be dancing in our chairs front of our computers) one of those little sugar cubes?

According to all the medical literature that exists that body count is 1, maybe. They found the guys body and upon doing a toxscreen they determined that he injected around 325mgs, yes milligrams, of LSD crystal, most likely thinking it was meth. Thats about 3500 + average street doses. There is also recorded 8 overdoses of crystal mistakenly snorted as cocaine. All 8 survived, but with medical intervention, without it who knows. They were all released from the hospital the next day. The actual amount each person ingested is unknown, but just imagine snorting a line of crystal LSD.

Are you high on those shivas when posting?

I was referring back to your ergot poisoning post and though not on those Shivas when posting, was a little inspired and wandered off hither and yon.

I really am interested in the # mcgs.

I'm afraid it's still a choice, you can choose. And there is no such thing as the right level of serotonin; there is no baseline. Serotonin levels in a human brain can not be measured if the person is alive. I'm afraid that's bullshit put out by drug companies so they can sell morre drugs and make more people think there is something wrong with them.

Just to illustrate my point about it being a choice: Your girlfriend dumps you, your mum dies and you get your bike stolen. Some people react very badly to these things, doing a lot of crying and mourning and feeling sorry for themselves, spending days at a time thinking about what they have lost. Some people just say "fuck it" and go and play some football with their friends.

We always, ALWAYS have a choice when it comes to depression, even if it doesn't seem like it.

    Help me Jeezuz!

Oh please, how can anyone be so ignorant on so many levels. Here is what the WHO (not exactly a tool of the "big pharma" some of you love to hate on) has to say about it:

Depression is the leading cause of disability as measured by YLDs (Years Lived with Disability) and the 4th leading contributor to the global burden of disease (DALYs) in 2000. By the year 2020, depression is projected to reach 2nd place of the ranking of DALYs calcuated for all ages, both sexes. Today, depression is already the 2nd cause of DALYs in the age category 15-44 years for both sexes combined.

So, your mum dies and your bike gets stolen (sure, those things are about the same) and a mentally healthy person "just says 'fuck it' and goes and plays some football with their friends." That somehow manages to be pitiful, heartless, ignorant, and revolting - all at the same time.

Interesting reading TM. I can't help but wonder what impact the latest psychedelic research will have on society long term. While you and I likely won't be around long enough to see dramatic change, one could hope the Johns Hopkins research and the LSD work being done in Switzerland will one day turn things around.

What if - I mean it HAS happened before - there was a sudden tilt over the line like when the Berlin Wall fell. I'm hoping, and I'm not one to take off on the latest oooo, man, blahblahblah. In the meantime, may we all have many brilliant voyages as we wait for sanity to strike in places of influence.

I noticed your link was from 2007. GB thinks I'm too lala on this, but maybe, just maybe ...

I'm not one to buy into conspiricy theories. The state of drug laws now didn't happen over night. If that's how these things work, 2CE (and ALL Peas) would be sched 1 today. It's more of a slow creeping process. Which to me is a bit more scary. Vast sea-changes like the Berlin Wall coming down are rare, me thinks. And even that was precipatated by more subtle change. I do hope some of the "creeping" we see and hear about is evidence of change in the right direction.

    Yes, maybe. Just maybe.

I don't understand how those statistics are supposed to disprove what I have said.

Maybe you guys who think it's wrong can't choose to not be depressed. Because nobody has shown you how. You are slaves to your emotions. Even something terrible does not have to grieved over, we have learned to be sad about these things. We always have an objective part of us that is not emotionally effected by the happenings of life, we just choose not to use it when one of our close relatives dies because nobody has taught us.

You don't get depressed, you do depressed.

The facepalm picture and the statistics do nothing to actually dispute the facts that I have presented, in fact the statistics would help to support my argument. Where were all these people getting depressed 70 years ago? Sure, folks got down about a few things but nobody was calling themselves "depressed". Depression follows the trend of diseases allegedly caused by the sun. They say that we should put sun screen on to stop us getting skin cancer but where was the skin cancer when anyone older than 55 was a child? And where was the sun screen? And the depression?

Maybe if you could actually present me with some new information that I could consider relevant to your disagreement, I would take you seriously.
