if you want to get ripped fast... gym membership. but if you can't afford it, go google 'bodyweight exercises'. i swear, it's god's pilates. Its the reason why male gymnasts are mad ripped but most don't work out.

    http://www.dragondoor.com/articler/mode3/229/

i reccomend eat a shit load... 4-6 meals a day, and work out minimum 3 times a week.

but all you did was give him pushing exercises

hmmm, lets give a kid more reason to develop imbalances...and recommened a bunch of supplements he doesn't need.

wheres the pulling exercises? deadlifts? BB rows, seated rows? wheres the squatting?

go buy the 2nd edition of Starting Strength by Mark Rippetoe.

Cross country runners don't have muscular legs in the way a weightlifter does, but their legs are hard and firm, though thin, like a thoroughbred horse.

Muscular guys have too much muscle mass to be flexible in the ways that are good for sex - flexing the spine for major pelvic thrusts during intercourse. Skinny guys can really shake that booty.

And if you have a weight lifter's body (or a football lineman's body) at 25, once you hit 40, if you are not exercising as much, you will have a potbelly, and your muscles will start to sag. It's called aging, and having responsibilities. And if your mother's father is bald, you will be too.

40 is the magic age huh? correlation =/= causation my man. anyone who doesn't exercise will become a fat slob during aging...balding is genetic, has nothing to do with exercising

pelvic thrusts come from the power of glutes and hammies - not the spine (lower back). if you're flexing at the low back for pelvic thrusts, i'm sure you'll be having back pain soon enough due to putting your lower back into compromising positions. powerful glutes and hammies is where its at for optimal thrusting.

I'm not talking about slamming your pelvis into her, but rather moving your pelvis around to come at the inside of her vagina from many different angles. Check out some porn where skinny guys are screwing, versus muscular guys. You will see a lot more flexibility.

    You 40 yet?

You might need to face the fact that your genetics won't allow you to be huge, but as someone pointed out, that could be a blessing when you get older. If you insist on gaining muscle mass, it'll take months of weight lifting (pyramids are good) and heavy eating to get there (unless you wanna do something crazy like steroids--DON'T DO IT!), and it's not necessarily all that healthy. Be careful of those muscle gain shakes and aminos, some of that shit can do damage to your internal organs if you take too much of it.

When I was in my early 20's, I used to hit the gym 3-5 nights a week and work on different body parts. I never really got that big, but I was a good 20 lbs heavier than I am now. I used to get hurt a lot though, pulled muscles, etc., I didn't feel all that healthy, plus the workouts were freakin' boring, so I cut the strength conditioning way down, and focused more on the cardio, like running, bike riding, etc.

Swimming is a good upper body workout that works the cardio without stressing the joints. It gives you that cut V shaped torso that turns the ladies heads when you're at the beach. I've been swimming every morning for years, and I'm pretty ripped, more so than most guys half my age, so it's paid off. I also trail run a lot in the woods, and train karate a few nights a week. There's a guy in karate with who's in his late 30's, huge and cut, but he's always getting injured 'cause he's carrying all that extra mass around.

I say keep up the running and try swimming. Eat healthy, maybe try some weight training, but don't overdo it.

    screw genetics

most won't reach their genetic limit

only those who are weak and want to make excuses will play the genetic card

and yes, it will take dedication in the gym to get bigger and stronger (well, he doesn't have to be in the gym, he could make his own weights or use BW too) - but it will take a commitment to do so.

nothing too crazy about steroids if they are used smartly - i hate all the mis-information going around about it. ever hear of hormone replacement therapy for men? why do woman get to have it, but men get stigmatized for it? bullshit.

you dont' get hurt from carrying more muscle around - you get hurt for not training correctly and creating imbalances and doing foolish things

You guys are young. You can experiment, and make poor decisions, yet your body will forgive you while you're young. So by all means, power lift, drink the power shakes, hell, even try steroids if you're careful (but make sure you know what you're doing, you can cause irreversible liver damage). I'm just saying from experience, you wanna think about your long term game plan, which may not be that important till you hit your 30's.

Genetics do come into play. Sure, if you're a high strung wiry guy like myself, you can overcome it by spending four hours a day lifting, and you'll gain mass, but you gotta work harder for it. Then there's those guys that hardly lift at all, yet are naturally huge and buff, it's a fact of life.

Exercises that rely on body weight are good. Push ups, pull ups. I've got a total gym, the one piece of equipment I use more than anything.

My body builder karate buddy never had problems till he was in his mid to late 30's, now he spends half his time nursing injuries. When you get to be in your 40's like me, I think you'll have a better idea of where I'm coming from IF you're still active and healthy. A lot of us turn into couch potatoes, particularly the bigger muscular guys that let themselves go.

I don't spend too much time cooped up in some yuppy gym anymore. Nowadays my "gym" is the woods.

I'd say do whatever is the most fun. If your workouts are boring or forced, how long do you realistically think you'll keep it up for? The key is consistency, and by that I only mean working out on a regular basis. Contrary to what I just said, you don't want to be too consistent in the actual exercises you do. Mix it up so your body doesn't get used to them.

But make sure you have a good time while working out.

Reccomending steriods I personally think is stupid.

Eat and train with heavy weights should be enough. Id say weights produce more muscle mass than bodyweight excersises like pushups. But combining them both is probably the most overall fit choice.

Have fun lifting weights is the shit.

What exactly is wrong with people that everything they do has to be fun.

The people who exercise regularly, for years and years, are usually the ones who get some enjoyment out of it. The rest, the ones who make it miserable work, they usually find some excuse or another to slack off before too long.

And what do you have against people wanting to make every aspect of their lives more fun?

Unfortunately most people aren't blessed with the perfect self-discipline that someone as wonderful and worship worthy as yourself enjoys. Most folks find exercise routines to be beyond dull and unsustainable in the long run. Physical fitness requires a commitment of longer than a few weeks- which is the longest most folks will last in an effective exercise program. The thing that will keep most engaged long enough to see results is the ability to enjoy what they are doing. It needs to be fun.

I do get asked now and then what the best way to gain muscle or generally get in shape is and my response is "the program you can stick with". 99.9% of people out there don't share your white knuckle death grip on pure self discipline and need a little something to help them keep with a program. Now, we could all sit around moping that we haven't matched your dizzying standard of perfection or we could move ahead with the meager little resources that fate, in its sick sense of humor has left us with, notwithstanding the fact that godlike entities such as yourself are looking down your most royal noses at us.

The only thing "wrong" with most folks is that they are not you. Most of us are not so secure in our sense of stellar perfection that we can afford to judge so many we deem to be beneath us. Being so damned perfect must be lonely work. I find it the height of irony that I'm explaining this to someone as all-knowing as you.

Find your own program and stick with it if it makes you happy, and it should be something you enjoy, or you won't stick with it. I've been at it for thirty years.

I lifted weights for several years when I was in my teens and early 20's. The best way to gain mass is to go with heavy weights and low reps, anything you can do five to eight reps on, no more. Otherwise it's just a warm up, which is good as well, if you do a set of ten to start off, that way you get the muscles ready for the work out and avoid injury.

Now all I do at the gym is swim laps at the pool. Every morning. But I keep it light, 1000 yards, and I do other stuff as well. And I've got free weights, a heavy bag, and the total gym in the basement. I use the total gym and the heavy bag way more than I use the weights these days.

Now most of my work outs consist of the stuff I love, running around in the woods, kayaking, karate, mountain biking, skiing, splitting wood, and I'm still as healthy as I ever was. I just wish more folks were into a healthy life style at my age, our health care system would be way cheaper.

Yes do push ups, but do them the right way! You can also try hindu push ups. They work great for strength conditioning.
