I've been on the internet at least since 2001 and 2. And I learn by experience. Don't we all? But I was wondering about uploading pictures, like memes and family pictures for example, to websites. Like message boards, Facebook and Twitter. I have found I at least prefer to upload larger files. If they are pictures, they have more definition. That can make a big difference, especially if you want to print it later. It gives it much better quality, I think.

But big files on the internet? Do websites mind? How does it affect their storage on their computer? And what about when people view it, say, on their smartphone? Does it affect their devices in anyway? Does it look better in any way? Does it look any different?

How big files are we talking about?
Our supporters get to load up larger images than members if you are wondering.

Our system automatically resizes larger images if they are too large.

There's no difference to the images on different devices. Although resolution etc. is device dependent.

The only difference with larger images is how long they take to load.

I would say that uploading images larger than 10mb is a waste for the web. They're not likely to appear better on most devices
