UPDATE: JULIAN ASSANGE Freed!

I consider my life more important then some mythical movement that isn't going to happen.

What is it you expect will come out of this?

To me... the only thing I see coming out of this, is those in power being even more blatant about their abuses of it.

Look at the various comments on the stories that come up about him in the main stream... the majority of people are calling for his execution, disappearance or being tried and jailed for life (sorta makes the trial pointless)...

Way too many people support the status quo for this to change anything for the good.

 

Well yeah, 'movement' wasn't the best word but I still see it as important.

When those in power rethink their actions because they know they may be (or there is a reasonable chance they may be) accountable for them, then we can start talking seriously about ethical decision-making. The last few decades that phrase was only meaningful externally - governments and corporations want to look good but do not follow ethics internally because they are not subject to outside scrutiny. Now there's a better chance they will be.

 

I agree, Wikileaks is not one person, it is a organization. He is the spokesperson. It will continue if he is arrested, which I hope does NOT happen.

Crazy times when just exposing the truth is so radical.

They are probably determined to stop the release of the corporate docs whatever the cost as it would lay bare corruption so deep that it would bring to question the US governments legitimacy to rule at all.

 

I love the timing of the crackdown on Wikileaks....

There isn't a civil rights group that shouldn't be foaming at the mouth over all of this.

There hasn't been a single charge actually made against him that has been processed through the courts, therefor he is supposed to be innocent.

Yet they are attacking him on every front... stealing his money, interfering with his business, infringing on his rights to free speech...

Let this be a lesson to everyone... The only freedom we have, is the freedom the government allows us...

At least until WE change it.

Thats actually the first thing I have seen published that admits whats going on...

Any charge that is brought against him now is already biased against him based on bullshit and innuendo and outright false accusation by people in power all over the world.

More importantly... and I think what should be scariest to everyone, is that the outcome of the way things are going right now, is that if the government (doesn't matter which one) wants to get you for whatever reason, they just have to pick and choose from the many countries around the world that has the laws they need to proceed.

I don't know which one, but there can only be one country he was in when he published these documents... either he should be charged in that one country, or not at all...

This guy has so many countries pursuing charges against him that you would swear he ate babies for a hobby, and preferred politicians babies...

The worst part of all this is I don't see a good way out of this for anybody.

 

As far as I'm concerned, this is a BIG hint as to who is really in charge. Think about what went down with the housing bubble bust... who was it the government couldn't throw money (trillion$) at fast enough? Who will benefit from "quantitative easing"? It ain't the middle class whose cash reserves will be built- those lucky enough to have a job will not be seeing any more money no matter how profitable their work place is. It's effectively rewarding banks for sitting on taxpayer money instead of making it available for business and personal loans.
