What would happen if he went back to Australia thinking that, and then the US did bring charges against him? He would then go through the whole extradition process again no?

I think upto a point it was out of their hands.
The motive to go to the police is something, perhaps, we'll never know.
From the reports I read they were worried about getting HIV.
The accusation of rape was not theirs I don't think.
There should some balance in responsibility here. HIM and them.
I think I'll quit trying to label anybody, to be honest.
As for money? I doubt it was because of that.
