Ahh, but see, thats my point... To participate, there are many things people can do. If they are too lazy to actually get out and do something they can send Anon an email giving them permission to use their computer in the attacks... Or they could donate money to Wikileaks... Or they could chose to take action directly and learn (yeah I know, not likely) how to participate in the attacks. Or they could just speak up in every online forum they are part of and support Anon and WikiLeaks... All done without ever getting off their asses...
These are apparently some of the most viewed/popular videos watched today. Post on them about Wikileaks/Assange. You can guess my screen name I'm sure... I haven't yet re-written any documents, I'll be doing that when I have more time this evening. It's a start though. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KBiae1BA4EA&feature="]YouTube - Guess Which One's 16 and Pregnant https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xvCmjFfW_Fw&feature="]YouTube - No Christmas https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tsw16g1wa9g&feature="]YouTube - Transformers: Dark of the Moon Trailer # 1 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6r0RnVCT5aQ&feature="]YouTube - Living In A Brown Fam #2

Try recording audio/vid clips on your cell phone and posting them as video responces. They stick around longer because they're not as common.
I don't own a cellphone, or a digital camera, or a video camera, or an ipod, or anything technological other than a tv and a desktop computer. Anyone have any suggestions as to what else I can try? The youtube thing was a big flop.
Dude, I see where you're coming from, but you couldn't be any more wrong. Fine maybe you find it impossible to have a sense of humor about the same injustices you care much about, but that's not the case for everyone else. In fact I'm pretty damn sure Colbert and Stewart, definitely more so Stewart are very mentally involved with the topics they report on. Also It seems you probably don't watch the show much at all, because the jokes are made to point out the overlooked truth in situations and this is why I am disappointed by the instance I mentioned. Anger is pretty much as useless as the sense of humor you are talking about. I do think you take things way too seriously, and in many cases to a whole new level of thought that is just a dog chasing after its tail. I don't see how that changes any of the situations. Like someone said before on HF, you think if you speak and think a certain way you can change things. Maybe to some extent with yourself, but not to any extent with these kinds of issues. I have decided for myself that the idolization I had of both Stewart and Colbert in the past is more credit than they deserve. They can only do so much for me, maybe bring to my attention some of the more major stories, but aside from that, it's really just a laugh. Obviously I have to come to my own conclusions, and lately I've been finding more and more things to disagree with them over. And actually I think they do get more credit than they deserve, just because of a liberal, easily persuaded following. I can how that sometimes happens with how much sense they have made. But for example Jon Stewart's interview with Jim Cramer from CNBC wasn't as significant as it was made out to be. To me it showed Jon Stewart was pretty ignorant of how the financial system really worked, and the audience's ignorance matched up perfectly. Kind of like you, with this notion that there is a way we OUGHT to think and speak, when it's just political opinion. Nothing that we think is contributing is actually contributing. You want to make as much change as possible and make a minor one, go out there and start shooting ignorant people.... or act like a Christian and bless them with forgiveness. Actually not at all, Nothing is ever contributed.
No, of course you're right - murders, assassinations, torture, overthrowing an elected government [but it was left-wing, yer honour...] - all just high spirits and the folly of youth really, so let the old guy go and enjoy what he denied many of his victims...ie: a life. The point is, Assange has been arrested on the same type of warrant as Pinochet. If Britain turned down requests for Pinochet, nice old man that he was, to be extradited to Spain on numerous human rights violation charges, then extraditing Assange is going to look a rather strange decision. I'm afraid I dont know what a putz is, but I gather from the context it might be defined as "anyone with views different from mine". If its all the same to you, I'll retain my right to disagree.
Guys why aren't you campaigning for every man wrongly accused of rape. Forget Assange. Assange is no longer a whistleblower, he is a dangerous irresponsible idealogue. He couldn't possibly have scrutinised the hundreds of thousands of diplomatic cables before publicising them. Without confidentiality we cannot function as a community, not at any level, from interpersonal to international. I wonder how we would fare at work if we became open and honest and instead of "Good Morning" it was "Good morning you arrogant fuck"; or at home: "your ass looks fat and I am sick of you harping on about your feelings all the time". At international level the breach of confidence may not end up in getting fired or divorced, but will undermine effective diplomacy in preventing wars and terror attacks, and persuing criminals. Whistleblowing is only whistleblowing if it is a force for the good and responsibly restricts itself to the revelation of wrongdoing. A free and unrestrained press is a means to an end, not an end in itself, otherwise it will not make us free, it will control us. Assange has lost the plot.
How about you go learn some facts before you start sharing your failed attempts to think? He hasn't released hundreds of thousands of documents to the public yet. Wikileaks has been releasing a small number of pages at a time, precisely so they can read them first and evaluate their effect on human lives. Whistle blowing is whistle blowing, regardless of how you feel the results turn out. You know what convinces me that Julian is doing the right thing more then just about anything else? People like you displaying their ignorance by attacking him with bullshit and lies.
I watch it enough. I just don't find either one of them that funny. Perhaps. Likely because I just can't remember the last time a punch line had any significant societal change. When I weigh out the difference between laugh it off, or consider if people instead took issues seriously and tried to change them, guess which side I favour more. Depends. If I don't see some reflection of truth to my thoughts in the world, then I suppose I'm chasing my own tail. It doesn't happen as often as you might think though. And as I said to that person, I don't think it, I know it. I think you misunderstand my intentions. What else is there to change? All we're ever in control of is ourselves. The only thing we ever have the ability to change is our world, what it consists of and how we see it. No one person is going to change the world outside. It's always nice to hear that a person has stopped idolizing someone. So, you don't think that we, as the people of society, should have an opinion? I'm actually pretty sorry to hear you say that. It's extremely self defeating. This is just odd. Why does change in your opinion require the mass killing or patronizing of people? I was thinking of a change more along the lines of people realizing that they have more power than they think, getting fed up with being lied to and fucked around and actually doing something about it. Strength is in numbers, change will come when enough people get fed up and desire change. I don't see how guns or bibles fit into the picture.....
