not until he adds it to the choices...or gives everyone avatar privileges I have a feeling he's probably going to add it to the avatar list
Anonymous is responsible for the hacker attacks today on Paypal and Post Finance, the Swiss postal bank. They've launched Operation Avenge Assange. If you are interested here's more info... Go Anonymous!
Anyone tried typing in "julian assange" into some anagram solvers? It's hilarious! For about three minutes,
lol John Perry Barlow.... Okay enough laughs as a Deadhead... That is good, I will spread the leaks today.
ha! thanks skip! i'm pretty lame on most of this stuff, but i did withdraw all my money from my paypal account this morning - i suppose it'll deny 'em a few cents of interest - there's no option to say why, sadly . . .
I am so against following the herd that I have a hard time actually doing something like this... But... I really don't think anything that has ever happened has bothered me as much as this issue. This could be any one of us in the future if this is let to continue. If there was ever a time when people across the world should band together and take action, this would be the time. If this isn't stopped... to put this as bluntly as possible, we (that is you (all of you) and me) are fucked beyond hope. So...I'll go against my normal inclination and jump on the bandwagon for this.
It's okay I know how you feel. I support government as it was created to protect our liberties, but clearly that isn't going on these days, so really I am standing behind my beliefs. Power to the people.
Thanks Tom. I think this is one issue everyone on this site can relate to. After all it is the Freedom of the Internet that allows this site to exist at all. If corporations and gov'ts controlled the Internet, this site would've been shutdown long ago. So we all OWE SOMETHING to this cause because it affects all of us. And this may be the thing to unite the citizens of the web into something that defies borders and acts as a political force to be reckoned with. They know not what they've unleashed! POWER TO THE PEOPLE, BABY!
Everyone should realize that all social media is being monitored, electronically and by individuals with all sorts of job titles. Just assume the worse, and you'll still be falling short...
Characterizing this as multiple governments misses the likelihood that they are acting at the behest of a single entity like a big bank... or a group of big banks. Perhaps a dialog can be initiated elsewhere how people can begin to revert their daily economics to bartering and progressively cutting the banks and their tool of mass manipulation- currency- OUT of the mess. Could be a useful practice should the full force of the economic mess actually hit.
From whistle-blowers like Pvt. Bradley Manning who downloaded tons of docs from secret gov't files and handed them over to wikileaks. It's believed he is the main source of the diplomatic cables, the Iran and Iraq War Logs and the video of US soldiers killing Reuters journalists.
Here's the hacker group, Anonymous (who have visited this site before), and their reasons for attacking Paypal and the Swiss Postal bank. Make your avatar like mine, Free Julian Assange! Go to User CP/edit avatar and go to page 6 of the avatars to find this image.
You may remember this from some of my posts regarding individuals... It applies here as well. Whether or not they are the cause of it, a symptom of it, or just doing the best that they know how, the simple fact is that ANY who have joined in on the attacks against him are responsible for it happening. I think if we were to make it to be an issue regarding just banks or other corporations, we would end up where we always do. The powers that be would sacrifice the bank or banks in order to make the sheep feel better, and then continue on down the same path, with each of us having that much less freedom. Also, keep in mind that there are people from all over the world that this goes to (both here and on facebook), give them a bank in the us to call the bad guy, and it becomes an anti-us issue... and it isn't. Its a control and freedom issue that transcends all borders and boardrooms.
Great idea. The main problem though is that people don't want to simply live within their means. By that I mean, people don't want to only have what they need. Let's say for sake of example everyone on this page lived around each other; Tom has a farm, in exchange for food you provide him with a helping hand. You provide me with some of Tom's food and in exchange I provide you with fire wood. This is a very simple example, but my point is that most people would never want to live for only the things they need as we've been so conditioned to think that all those shiny things the shopping malls offer us will provide happiness, going without will not. The things we need in life can mostly be had for low cost and a bit of hard work. If we all contribute to Tom's farm, we'll all eat for free, but people would rather work for money (somewhat understandable given our system) then work for food. Many people don't know or don't care that they can live happily and healthily (don't know if that's a word) without a lot of money.
i wonder if this will be the event that wakes people up.... maybe this arrest will do what two wars and an economic collapse couldn't do.
