ever since the first one was was picked off by a mcdonaldsaurs 200million years.. .. chickens love to be eaten..
What a load of crap. If one is concerned about animal cruelty, the only solution, other than becoming vegan, is to stop eating factory farmed meat, and eat only local, free-range chicken raised in humane environments. These fucking bleeding heart people have an agenda which is mostly political, and they exploit something that is bad to promote something even worse (even if it's only theoretical). It's sick and reeks of propaganda. I will continue eating my organic, free-range chicken, thank you very much.
Have you ever seen the food replicator on Star Trek? It'll be real, very soon... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eVUuaDXBhs4"]Picard & The Wrong Tea - YouTube
Scary. And GLEN, it doesn't make you a bad person. But, I would urge you to take the time and research KFC and their treatment of chickens. I don't know how the subject is handled in Australia, but here in the US, it's a gruesome mess. How you spend your dollar is the most powerful tool that you have. Use it wisely!
Eating chicken is good karma or extremely bad karma, depending which chicken you get Going to KFC is not good karma for you It does not make you a bad person by definition though.
seems pretty extreme. breeding chickens that are blind, because they respond better to the stress of packed conditions...that kinda seemed like a good idea to me. buying organic, free-range chicken is all well and good (except for the fact that the definition of "free range" is pretty wide open - it can mean thousands of birds crammed into a warehouse...as long as they aren't in individual cages)....but can EVERYONE afford to eat that way? and if they could...would they choose to? no. i feel like with the way our society is structured, there is not enough room for everyone to eat humanely raised animals. i wish they could, but it may not be the reality we are facing with over 7 billion people on the planet, who continue to increase their numbers exponentially.
that is super bizarre, and I think its kind of a ridiculous answer to crowded, inhumane factory farm conditions. There are simpler solutions. Humans in first world countries eat much more meat than they need. I think we could easily feed the world with humanely raised animals if people didn't feel the need to eat meat 3 times a day. 3 times a week is really all you need to get adequate nutrition from meat.
That chicken in the picture didn't look like he was having a very good time I don't know about that shit man...to be honest I think it's kinda wacko.
No, it just means you're eating sick chickens pumped full of hormones and antibiotics, then deep fried in inflammatory, carcinogenic oil. So like another person said, karma.
fair point. i eat meat daily, but my wife does try to buy organic stuff, and free-range sometimes, but like i said, free range and cage-free eggs sometimes doesn't mean shit. i'm more concerned with eating healthy (avoiding nitrites and trans fat and preservative and shit like that) than i am with eating "humanely." i'm not against it, it just comes 2nd to eating somewhat healthy, and they can go hand in hand. i bet fast food companies are responsible for the worst of it, and i never eat that.
You are absolutely right regarding so-called "free-range" poultry and eggs, Josh. This is why I try to buy from small farms whenever possible. Thanks to our public market, it makes it a bit easier to obtain REAL cage-free chicken and eggs. I buy from Wegmans' organic line, too, but I prefer to buy locally whenever possible. It's also much cheaper. If you are looking to save money on organic meat, I highly recommend checking out the public market.
I can't remember the last time we bought chicken. My grandparents keep their own chickens, feed them and kill them. Plenty for all of us!
